Default Emotions of Soldiers in Rome 2

    Hi Guys!

In the first Video that was ever shown (Carthage gameplay), CA mentioned a few times that soldiers will have an improved Emotion Systems - means if a soldier gets hit by an arrow, the other soldiers next to him will react on that situation. Same as Generals / Centurions: I think everyone knows the part of the Video where the Centurio shouts "Take those walls" - and than the soldiers storm the wall.

Unfortunately i didn't see any News regarding that. Also the gameplay Videos were zoomed out so far away that i couldn't see anything of that. It would be awesome to hear the centurio talking to his men - i.e. when a Legion is in a defensive Position and barbarians attack them - will the Centurio say "hold steady" or "For Rome!" or something?

Or is this a Feature that didn't make it into the game? Maybe someone who played the battle of the nile can confirm this?

Of course it's in, even in the Teutoberg Forest vid you could hear soldiers shouting out while fighting. I didn't really find any vids of the Battle of the Nile which zoom in enough to notice, but there's no reason to think the feature is no longer in the game .

I doubt there will be anything noticable. Most of it was pure marketing talking.

For example the talk of soldiers who react if a comrade is killled by a arrow. How could we expect to see it in game ? The soldiers protect themselves with their shields ? It was already the case in RTW. Their morale is reduced because they are attacked and loose some mens ? It was already the case two. The player will hear the soldiers sreaming, crying, talking, etc ? It is already the case since ETW.

At it will just translate with the return of a reaction that disappeared with the coming of Warscape (I am thinking of the soldiers protecting themsleves with a shield).

I'm sure it will be a bit more than just sounds, The shields is new as far as I know and pretty neat. I guess we will have to wait and see since we not going to get any real info from CA until release. They where specific to say movement reactions and facial reactions to what's going on around them as well as sounds.

If you listen closely at the 7:25 mark, you hear the centurion (i think) shout " Come on heroes, you wanna live forever!?) That gives me a semi boner.

Loved that...but I never heard the "Wanna live forever" part haha
There's plenty of this in the game. Some examples below:
For Rome : Cavalry charging archers.
Arggh my face - Shaaaat up! - Dogs charging Romans.
They're trying to kill me - yeah it's not just you ya (something-something) - Second group of Romans fighting at the start of Teutoberg.

You can also hear a lot of screaming when the fire arrows come down just before the Romans brace for the dog attack. There's certainly a lot of things in Rome 2. However, I do believe that not everything is in the final game. As Jack said previously, this is the time for when CA are shoving everything into the game. The demos never had everything.

Seriously though, looking forward to all of this unit chatter in the final game

EDIT: I just, for the first time, listened to the Teutoberg gameplay video with my PC speakers. I always listened through my headphones. What I'm getting at is the fact that when you listen through your speakers, you don't even hear much at all of the unit chatter. It's pretty much non-existent. However, if you plug in headphones, you'll hear everything! I think maybe those of you who have speakers and could not hear the little stuff are missing out but this all is in there, if you are wondering.

Yeah, they already have facial reactions in SHOGUN 2. I'm wondering how well done they will be this time around.

The "shield reaction" already existed in RTW and M2TW. I guess the reason why it did not existed in ETW, NTW and S2TW was the absence of shield equipped troops except one single unit in ETW. It is right however that the soldiers under fire who protect themselves while moving is new.

Ah okay its be a while for me on the older TW games. I just think a lot of focus what put into this aspect of game play that we have nothing to worry about in that department should be better that anything we have so far. Its other areas that worry me but I'm not going to go there.

I don't think that counts. In RTW and M2TW they would only raise their shields once the first volley had already hit them, and it wasn't a special animation or anything; it was the unit getting into the ready position just like they do automatically when the enemy gets close.

I remember seeing soldiers screaming when the Germans ambushed them, I heard, "they killed him" and "they are trying to kill me"

I hope if a guy in your unit dies there's a chance, his bro will go bezerk (higher attack, lower defence) and try to kill his aggressor!

i think it will be just part of overall improved everything - more and better animations, more awareness to what is going on with an appropriate reaction etc. pretty much what one could expect from the next title in a series

i d be surprised if it would affect the outcome of a fight though.... apart from the usual things which affect the morale status of course
