How to be a friend with Pope ?

I am playing as Portugal and I am at war with Moors. How can I get better reputation and then ask Pope to call crusade ? Are there any Moors´ cities that are more likely to become a target of crusade ? Thanks

I would recommend sending a diplomat to Rome and agreeing to give regular tribute of about 500 things every turn for a long time, makes the Pope love you in the long turn. I would also recommend building many churches and other religious things.

Yes, there are some towns in iberia, I guess, maybe not at the beggining of the game.
Build and upgrade churches, keep fighting muslims, keep good relations with other catholic nations, ally with the vatican, give them some gifts...

You want to know what I did in my Byzantine Campaign?

I had conquered Antioch and the other Syrian cities,but I couldn't keep them not because there was any threat,but because there was so much unrest. So what did I do? I decided to start giving away these cities,because I knew that in some point,they would rebel or the Crusader States would come back with a bigger force. I gave 3 cities and in exhange I took one from the Papal States,and from Really bad relations,I went skyhigh with them having "Perfect" relations. So if you have any hard-captured city that you can't hold,give it to the papal states. They will appreciate you,you can gain money in exhange and also they will reinforce that city so the enemies can't take it. In return also,the Papal States will go to war if the Moors for example attack their city (which you conquered), and then he might even do a Crusade for you
