    Default Internal Politics

    Hey Guys,

I've been wondering about this; it is clear that Rome and Carthage will have an internal political system; the 3 families, the Senate; ie some mechanics to keep in mind (when you play as them).

But, I have not read/seen anything which clearifies if the other (playable) factions also have such systems....does anyone know anything about this??

I definitely remember reading in an article that it had been confirmed that all playable factions would have their own politics systems, though I can't remember exactly where this was stated unfortunately Wherever it was though it was rather vague whether each faction would have a unique politics system of their own, or more or less a carbon copy of the Roman one.

I hope so, even if it's a smaller cut down version of those mechanics. Won't feel like the full experience when playing the other factions otherwise.

I'm hoping that Sparta has the two kings and 'caste' system in play.

I wonder if we'll be able to switch government types?

There is an achievement on Steam if I recall, the objectives "After a Civil War, choose to be a Republic instead of Empire as Rome or Carthage."
This message alone reveals alot, and is probably the answer to your question. Aye; Carthage will be fairly much like Rome. Hopefully this will be noticed in the later turns of a Carthage Campaign, their late technology being similiar to Rome when the said Nation is probably destroyed, enslaved or turned into a Vassal of the superior.

Only Rome & Carthage are able to transition from one form of Government to another (so from a Republic to an Empire/Monarchy). Every other faction is essentially locked into a monarchy system from the beginning. However, the political Meta-game does allow for Civil Wars to be triggered in other ways, for example like the player-faction losing too much authority, or gaining too much.

Generally speaking, every faction in the game has the same political meta-game to contend with. Rome and Carthage have further, unique options when it comes to consolidating power and forming ‘Empires’, but apart from that there is little difference between factions how this part of the experience works.

Does steel leave room for interpertation, and seems like to me there will be families in other factions as well (yeah!). Wish CA would confirm what exactly will be the case here...
