I agree with the OP the germanic voices sounded very derpy, Roman voices I can live with since I'm a big fan of HBO's Rome.

There are no American voices. The only ones I've heard are British.

The voice of the Suebi Bloodsworn reminded me a bit of the "Day is ouuurs!" guy from the original Rome. Will he be making a comeback tour of Rome II?

Man I hated that guy, I just had this image of a weedy little adolescent.

I have to admit, the campaign maps Germanic voices didn't leave a good impression on me. I honestly liked the corny barbarians of the original RTW. The first dude he clicked literally said "For the tribe" and yes to me he sounded like a marine from COD.

Not really a complaint, just an observation. The voices and music are all said and done by now anyways. So whatever, we're all big kids here and we can put up with it and make it through the game if they suck. Just believe in yourself and anything is possible. It's always darkest before the dawn as Julius Caesar once said. I think it really applies here.

Of course its not a deal breaker, but why was it hard to make other factions use voices similiar to first rome, its ok for romans to sound american or british, but all factions to sound the same?hell no
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IhnUgAaea4M just swap america for rome.

Me too, I liked the hoarse barbarian voices of the original with their "attttaaarrrck!" much more than the new voice, but I can live with it.

Julius Caesar always had the wisest quotes. Who could ever forget his command of "Don't pila me, bro!" at the battle of Pharsalus?

    Accent DLC, anyone?

Honestly, why couldn't they do the same thing they did with RTW? They had accents for various cultures in that game. Seems like a step back.

In that case, why don't the Suebi speak Esperanto? We have no voice recordings from that period, how do we know they didn't speak Esperanto?

I don't mind slight changes for the different factions, but a lot of the accents in Rome I were way too heavily done that playing as certain factions made me physically cringe whenever I heard the announcer guy.

That brings back memories of the Danish announcer in ME2.

I've lost count of all the times I wanted to just hang that guy to make him shut up... -.-

Yeah, well Denmark was for some odd reason lumped together with the Eastern (mainly Slavic) Factions, which had a bit of an... 'interesting' ring to it. *ahem*

Suebi voicework was the worst voice acting I've heard in any video game... ever. The Suebi sounded like a bad voice actor trying to sound like a US Army recruit and sucking at it - how that could ever be believed to be an ancient German living in the rugged and dark lands of ancient Germania, I don't have a %#$@!! clue! That's how disappointed I am right now because sound fx and voice acting in games in more important to me than even the graphics. Even years after I stopped playing a game, I still remember the voice acting, the music, and the memorable quotations or dialogue - if it's well done. Games like Dawn of War, the Witcher series, Starcraft and others being good examples of that.

I gotta admit that voice was pretty horrible. Sounded like a fighter from Soul Caliber or Street Fighter.

Barbarian voices should sound more gruff and tough. Something like this: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=LJZIBx1fpUU
