Just taken my first battles pictures . Last night as the Sweboz, I developed my economy and took cities either through bribery or siege on auto resolve without too much difficulty and am now enjoying my first real battles with this mod. I must say, that I'm impressed with DBM so far, the unit textures are great and at the moment my army is actually fighting in the streets of a Roman town! instead of a Vanilla Medieval one.
My Sweboz tribe has moved south concluded alliances with it's neighbours and taken over the greater part of central Europe. I now have moved down into North Eastern Italy and whilst the Romans mounted an attack on the Gauls, I attacked their largest army, the pictures of which are shown here.
This was a terrific battle!!, The Sweboz marched across a grassy hillside clearing from their forest lure to attack the Roman position on the forest edge. It was a very tough battle. The AI was quite realistic, with the Romans placing their Militia and Celtic mercenaries in front to soften the impact of the German attack. These put up a good fight and only after parts of that front line collapsed did the Roman Principes and Triarii engage in the combat and then the Sweboz started to hurt bad, real bad. However grim determination eventually overcame the Romans tenacity. At one point when my forces started to become patchy and weak, disaster was only averted by quickly sending forward my cavalry units, to fill the gaps taken by deserted warriors.
The Roman General was finally surrounded and killed, but only after thousands of men had been killed on both sides. Now there isn't any substantial army between my Germans and Rome and replenished with more warriors from the north, I descend on the capital to take the ultimate prize, the city of Rome!!!!
