The first post, sorta hard to miss .

What do you mean? The files are in the attachments
LoL, I think you just need to extract it? Right?
Do I have to extract reducedbonuses in the same folder like descr_regions (medieval2/mods/DBM/data/world/maps/campaign/custom/and in every folder there(lite,medium,full))?
descr_regions is the only one to go in there, the other two should go into DBM/Data I believe, be sure to make a copy of the files you're replacing if you are unsure about it.
God bless your soul john duca and may your work bring wealth to the TWC forums as others did too!
Cheers and take some rep and play with it!
Nice improvement on the squalor. I tried the population file but it made all the AI factions go bankrupt about 30 turns in.
Well the population file does not affect the income or anything with money..it just slows down the growth..I also was the richest faction when i 1st played the mod , without modifications.
Good job, + rep
The population growth modification worked fine but the squalor one causes my save to CTD.

well that file is very strange..I also saw people that could load their save game and people that couldnt...
Some people can load their old saved game after the changes, and others cannot. This most likely has to do with whether they have disabled the file cashe through the mod's .cfg "preferences" file. It can be opened and altered using notepad.
"Disabling file cache is done via mod's .cfg file, relevant section needs to contain the line:
[io]
file_first = true
disable_file_cache = true
It's vital if you play a mod that's frequently updated, in many cases you wouldn't be able to continue your previously saved campaign with cache enabled - my recent research shows that the game will allow you to play on in "compatibility mode" when cache is disabled, whereas normally some battles wouldn't load. And there might be more to it.
A known symptom that could indicate disabling file cache would help is a CTD preceded by random texture errors found in game's log, directly before its end."
John, I'm a little confused about all that this submod does. Are you saying that you reduced the actual population numbers, and not just population growth? I understand that you reduced population growth, but did you also reduce the population numbers?
I see your rationale that you reduced them because they were set to real life numbers. Perhaps I misread that, and I don't understand your intentions or your thinking if, among the goals, is immersion and realism.
Can you clarify?
don't know the guy .. but i think it's a gameplay choice as with those high populations some factions were unplayable because of early rebellions
