a mini campaign?
I want Barbarian invasion II, but Shogun II had the Rise, and the Fall, of the Samurai. Why not the Rise of Rom(an empire), and the Fall, which is, Civil War aswell as Barbarian Invasion.
Barbarian Invasion has that chaotic, apocalyptic feel to it. Grim and daaark.
Making a whole expansion from the Civil War seems a bit limited, an expansion should at least add a new timeline and several new faction, Civil War sounds more like something that would work as a 1 € DLC scenario honestly since it is basicly just a matter of changing the starting date...
What are you talking about? Having Roman Rebels as an organized faction was a brilliant move from CA, maybe you didn't understand it but the Roman Rebels were supposed to represent a civil war faction.
Barbarian Invasion was really my favorite Total War expansion, the Western Roman Empire campaign was simply brilliant.
Personally, I'd prefer an expansion that just adds more content to the main campaign instead of having resources thrown in to several mini-campaigns. Sort of like how Stainless Steel incorporated a lot of Kingdoms features in to the grand campaign. Perhaps expand to the east for more factions, incorporate India and maybe in the future a little more? Even though it's incredibly unlikely I would love to see the Han so I could finally get the massive history boner that Rome vs Han would provide me. Oh well.
I will love it. I may add the Rise of Rome with a campaign focused on Italy and the Tyrrenian sea. Not like the Barbarian Invasion. I didn't like the game starting with already Rome split in two parts. I would instead made an Imperial Era part from Augustus to Diocletian. More intersting and something completely new.
I would like to see a civil war in Crisis of the third age century AD
With Maximinus Thrax as first barrack emperor
Veritas Temporis Filia
The two games are radically different. To the point that they are barely in the same genre. How do you manage to compare them ?
At least Alea Jacta Est focus on the Roman Civil War (what the OP is asking for) and represent them realistically and with a lot of specific possibilities. On the Opposite a TW with this focus would not be better than a simple mods (since the main factions are identical) and would fail to keep the focus more than 5 turns as the AI would forget about the whole story and just attempt to expend as it always do.
I'd like to just see them expand on the main game. Add more regions, extend the campaign map and add more factions in; or maybe redo the Alexander expansion. I didn't really like first one and I feel that Alexander deserves a better game.
They probably won't though. I think a Barbarian Invasion 2 is most likely.
A Rise of Rome set in Italy in around 400ish BC would be neat imo.
