    I have a ViewSonic VP191b, 19" LCD monitor.

700:1 contrast ratio, 8 ms response time. Whew... its a beast.

If you want a monitor, this is the one to go, its a little on the expensive side but its worth it. I think ViewSonic got a newer model out, but I'm not sure.

My CRT monitor was giving me hassle, its very old and always seems either too dark or washed out.. also doesnt support any decent resolutions without extensive fiddling about. So i went to find the cheapest and biggest flat monitor i could on ebuyer and came up with zis:

Apparently its cheaply made (as in might fall apart if i sneeze on it) but does the job well for the money. It should be delivered tomorrow

    cost £149..

I have 2 Refurbed Compaq 21" P1210's running in horizontal Span mode @ 1600x1200 each (3200x1200) I got them for about $170 ea at a show about a year and a half ago. Best investment I have ever made. Period. They have trinitron tubes in them (I can tell as they have the trinitron lines) and the picture quality is excellent. The only thing that does annoy me, and it has nothing to do with the monitors, but for some reason when switching back to single monitor modes (ala playing games) the highest single display resolution I can get is 1024x768 (unless I uninstall the 2nd monitor first) This is just an irritating part of Nvidias multimonitor drivers.

I used to have a Trinitron (well I still do, just with my older computer). They looked really nice, but the lines annoyed me to no end.

I dont even notice them, unless I am actually looking for them or am doing something where the background is pure white. The monitor I had before was a POS TTX 17" and by the time I got rid of it, it had concentric blue ovals appearing around the center and everything was really darkish-green. But thats what happens when the phosphor layer wears out on cheapo CRTs.

Right now I have a Radius Rad-5 17' Monitor. 8ms Response time, works fairly well i suppose. I'm going to pair it up with my old dell 17', get double screens.

One screen I am looking at, and would love to have two,(In my dreams) is this:

BenQ 19' 2ms response time... $210 including rebate

Well, I used an old CRT monitor with my desktop (15" or something, rather hideous), but my laptop which I use as a desktop replacement now because it's far better than my old desktop has a 17" WXGA+ BrightView widescreen with 1440 x 900 resolution.

@ Pyrrhus - that's the one I have. Pretty good deal for the quality of the monitor. I would recommend it, but there are better 19 inchers out there.

I have a 19inch widescreen 1440x900. I badly regret the decision to get a widescreen, don't make my mistake.

OK, another thing, how did you guys connect your LCD monitor (if you have that)?

I replaced my regular vga connection method to the DVI cable. The damn thing is like 60 bucks, but after trying to convert back to the old VGA cable, I couldn't stand the old, compare to the image quality I get with DVI cable.

    VGA connection (analog)

I thought most LCDs came standard with a DVI cable? I seem to have a surplus of them. 2 spare ones laying in a drawer as we speak...

I have a Iiyama Vision Master pro 413.
It's a very good quality 15 inch CRT, best monitor I've ever had.

I use my computer to watch TV and DVD movies and the extra brightness option my monitor has is perfect for that.
I've never liked the picture LCD's make, and they have aditional shotcommings.
Sure a CRT takes up a lot more space but IMO that's a small price to pay to have a much better picture quality and virtually zero respnse time.

I only regred having a bigger screen, 15 inch is pretty small especially when watching TV from my couch or bed.

btw: I was wondering if anybody here has a wide-screen monitor, and if they liked it or not.
edit: oh, I just read your post Lee, what's so bad about widescreen?
