    Default Changing AI type/etc Mid-campaign

Hey, I've been thoroughly enjoying the game except for one issue. The load times vary from 1-4 minutes, averaging around 2. This isn't so bad now that I can alt-tab out and do other stuff, but I've attempted to fix the issue by changing the game settings at SS_setup. I'm mid-campaign now, around turn 27. I switched from BOGW II to no BOGW II, as well I've tried changing the AI (for fun). I've done this while Not-in-game, via the SS-Setup, and then loading the game up.

I wondered if changing the settings like this mid-game actually changes it, or is it not possible as my campaign is already in progress, and I keep the settings that I started the game with?

As well, is there a significant speed difference between BOGW II and no BOGW at all? I know version IV increases times significantly, which is why I haven't used that mode yet.

For clarification I mean the time it takes for the AI turns to all pass by.

this is what i have found in FAQ

Remember, that changing features mid-game will make your saves unplayable - until you switch back to the same feature setup as before!

Does the FAQ mean LITERALLY unplayable, like you can't even start the game?

I'm still able to load and play the game. It just takes like 4 minutes now to end the turn and load all the AI turns.

First off its BGR, not BOGW. The phrase Mid-campaign here means changing some settings in the setup while you have a savegame with other settings which you are playing. There are only some settings you can change mid-campaign without breaking the savegame, you will not break the game itself this way.

You can change the AI mid-campaign, and maybe some submods, but definitely not BGR.

Yep, that's how I was using the phrase 'mid-campaign.' So, to conclude, my save game isn't fixable, I have to start a new game?

The FAQ says: "...features must be changed from the start-menu, using the SS folder.." Does that mean I literally need to be inside the game, at the start menu, then alt-tab out of the game to change the features? Or I'm misreading the FAQ.

Nvm, figured out that's not what it meant. I started a new game, gracual AI, no BGR whatsoever, and that has dramatically increased the speed, now I hardly have time to do stuff while alt-tabbed between turns. Look like the FAQ was mildly inaccurate in that regard, in ways to speed up end turns.

Nope, just put the setup choices back to how they were when you played the campaign and I think it might be playable once again.

No you don't, you just have to go to the SS_setup exe and tick the features you want and then launch.

Glad to hear you have everything working.
