    Default Legion III

    Legion III Mod

    I stumbled on this mod, but cannot find it referenced at TWC. It's very good - uses the work of many modders and the AI seems especially good. http://www.greatlegion.h15.ru/

    Why is this not on TWC, or is there a problem with it?

    If you mean a) why does it not have a sub-forum here? Then thats because a modder must request a sub-forum for their mod. Or b) why is it not in the donwload section? The download section is not working properly at the moment, and can only host files up to a max size of 20mb.

    Thanks for the swift reply. Sorry to be unclear. I was more asking about why I have not heard of it or seen it discussed at TWC given it's a good piece of work. Have you tried it?

    This is indeed a very good mod. A bit unstable, but worth every reload. The battle AI is amazing - how has this been done? The enemy forms, reforms, attacks, counter attackes, uses missiles (bows, javelins and siege machines) effectively... This is the first version that feels like I am playing a human opponent. Also, the graphics are sweet and smooth flowing... Great stuff.

    That said, I have had ever increasing rate of CTD (always occuring at the battle loading stage, GAY) and so have returned to Rev 2 to see if that holds up better.

    No i have not. The reason its not been discussed much is that the mod maker does not post much at TWC, the only real info about the mod he's posted being the pic and a brief link to the download.

    Nice work! Is the link you give above the same release as that at the link I mentioned in my first posting above?

    Also, I have found that I have gotten attacked by the roman factions (playing as Julii) very early on. Is that part of your mod?

    I have downloaded and installed version re iii but it crashes immediately on launching a new imperial campaign. Any suggestions? I notice that it has an exe for Alexander TW - do you need that to play re iii?

    OK - Update. I see that re iii has a Provincial Campaign, of which there is only one, called Imperial Campaign. If I select this, then it works. Am I doing it right? And is there a list of the content/changes in re iii?

    -Delete growth Bounus -5
    -Put the Standard for the Principate, Hastati and the Triarii
    -MOST 1/2 construction.
    -Repeating Ballista and Ballista 2 now 6

    Unstable..hmm. Never had a CTD. yet
    Its nice huh.. I'm lovin it! BUT That Gauls are VERY tough. About 4000+ Legions against 1500+ Gauls. He kicked my arse! Im not a newbe believe me.

    I seem to get a crash if I play 2 battles back to back - and at other random times, too.

    Yes, the Gauls are tough. I just had a good win against 2 cathaginian armies, but I am am only playing difficuly, not the very diifficult level. Are you using reIII or RE2?

    I can confirm it' a great mod work !!

    I test the 6.4 Sinuhet's formations on it and seems works fine after 4/5 battles.

    Well, I can tell only one thing : test it !!!

    I've played this mod a little (2nd edition) and I have mixed fillings about this one. First I was very surprised to see profesional brand new intro movie that was obviously not made by him (look his mod net site and you will get the idea). I suppose he must have gotten it from the developers of the game. Don't ask me how. GUY, can you please explain how did you pull this one out?
    Game main menu is also made very professionaly and runs much smoother than menus in other mods - I have a very slow PC so I emidiately noticed that difference. I guess that it also wasn't made by him but again by developer.

    Campaign itself is a mixture of some existing mods (as stated in installation of the mod-read below for all the details) and manages to implement some really good elements of other mods together (for example EB traits for characters).
    But there are also things implemented that spoil gameplay experience. For example I personaly don't like the idea of having original vanilla units present in the mod since they are coloured. They kind'a don't go along well with other non-coloured units (for example RTR units which are implemented).
    I hope there is going to be a modder that will swap vanilla units with some more realistic ones.

    There are also many descriptions for units and buildings which are missing.

    I played Juli faction end after a while some brigands (Samnite) emerged. When I attacked them I was totaly bitten. Stats for this unit are totaly unrealistic! Didn't play enough time to reach Gauls though so I can't really speak about them and how well AI is on battlefield. Will try today in my free time.

    When you ingage in battle you will be impressed by the graphics and especially how smood the game runs - it is the best I have experienced up to now! Really amazing - it runs very well also on my AMD Thunderbird which would in other circumstances lack necessary power.

    To draw a conclusion: this mod is really interesting, it also has some mystery wrapped around it (maybe 'cos mod maker lacks knowledge of english language and thus can't provide enough info). It is very good in some aspects but also bad in others. It would need additional polishing to become really enjoyable.

    GAY, I really hope you can provide as with additional info - this way your mod will also be more known in the RTW mod-fan community as it certainly deserves that! Good job.

They are set in a very delicate unique way but are not overpowered. Their superiority is shown in the battlefield though.
    19. Mass settings are creating real effects of charge penetrations, cavalry swarms, dead horse bodies are falling to disrupt infantry formations, Elephants are keeping infantry at a distance in a way that the battlefield feels alive and violent
    20. Building times have been adjusted to a more realistic build time
    21. War Dogs, Flaming Pigs, and Screeching Women are removed from the game
    22. Campaign AI has been adjusted for aggressiveness
    23. Ships have been adjusted to sink more often

    Im have mixed too.. Its a good way to put it.. I think.. The intro was a "Preatorian" game....I think.
    And yes its very smooth. Its really beautiful.

    I really like the little mods together to make it works. Its nice. Like you said the EB thinggy. Its really cool that has the pilum instead the sword... very cool. Even better you got the Triarii is kneeling!!
    It seems to me a "Beta Legion III" But he doesnt say that.

    2. Delete growth -5
    3. Put in the Standards where its supposed to be
    4. All recruit 0 ie SPQR
    5. Delete the Light Auxilia... Its the same... Idont know why...
    6. Delete the Centerian(sp) for the Archers and Aux. Archers.
    There others I cant remember.

    Hello Gay

    The Release Editio III for RTW 1.9 does not work for me. Just CTD when I try to launch the game. Maybe that's why I have the italian version of the game.
    Gonna try with the Editio II for 1.5.
