    Default On Rebellions

Has CA announced anything on rebellions yet? Will they be as they were in previous total wars where a conquered province suddenly has a stack of veteran elite units springing out from the netherworld to overwhelm you? I never really understood how a conquered province suddenly bursts into a fully blown rebellion with elite troops with 3-4 experience chevrons.

The way I understand it, your own armies may turn against you if their loyalty lies with someone other than you. So it wouldn't be a massive contrived mess by the sound of it

    Sounds interesting!

On another note: if your general dies in battle, does the army disband? Because CA have said that each army needs a general... (perhaps one will automatically replace him eg/ battlefield commission)

From what I have read, there is a list of generals and you will never have a shortage to commission one from.

Luckily no, JL confirmed that another general is immediately assigned

What OP is talking about here is what happens when a region revolts due to unrest. We haven't been told yet but there's been no indication that it will be any different from previous TW titles. Though of course you'll be more likely to get rebels belonging to a certain faction rather than generic grey rebels.

Yes. Hopefully we'll see re-emergent factions on every rebellious regions. The level of rebel units usually as far as I remember is base on what level of recruitment buildings exist in the region so if that region have a high tier unit recruitment building then the rebels will consist of high tier/elite units.

In the last game rebellion caused by misadministration always see the province back into former owner or in some cases native or emergent faction. Only rebelllion caused by players agent action make the province goes into grey generic rebels.

For Rome II I hope we will no longer see grey rebel faction but if player use agents to make a region rebelled from enemy owner then there will still be an emergent faction but with the option to make the new faction player's client state.

ah i didnt know that. i just want to see a feature like in MTW (the first one) where a "dead" faction can be brought back to life. I like to play my games slow and try to keep all the factions alive and balanced (thats my goal rather than world domination) and a re-emergent faction feature would make me happier than the day i got married to a woman i thought i loved.

The rebellion depends on what army is garrisoned there. So if your elite army is garrisoned when it rebels you will face a elite rebellion on the other hand if you have a bunch of peasants it will be an peasant rebellion. Not really accurate but good for gameplay balance. don't think it has anything to do with the barracks(this is how it worked in napoleon)

The fact that we don't have a mess of grey rebels makes me quite happy. Emergent faction for the win. It will be fun to incite rebellion in your enemies territories and support emerging rebel states.
