I have played two campaigns with RTR Platinum - no CTD. The same goes for Gold, though. Booth are stable, I'd say.

RTR 6 Gold has a known issue. The 66 BC CTD. It was discovered after the Team moved to RTR 7 so the only solution is to use RomeSage to edit the year date. In RTRPE we hope to have fixed it. Hopefully this problem won`t be there in RTRPE v1.7 that will be released in the near future.
both extremely stable although gold more so.
i play 6.0 gold pretty often and it never crashes so it's very stable. haven't played plat so can't comment on it
I say RTR PE is more stable. In gold it crashed alot, in RTR PE it doesn't, for me so yea.

Just get RTRPE. Since it uses the 1.5 patch it fixed some bugs and made the ai smarter. Also you can play it through the BI exe which makes the ai even that much smarter.

I used to believe gold was more stable, but since we finally figured out what was causing PE to crash at end turn I must say platinum is the way to go. I have much less crashes during the campaign map now with platinum over gold.
Edit: STEVE IRWIN IS DEAD!?!?!? *Cries*

If you use RomeSage the 'late campaign bug' isn't a real problem from RTR 6 Gold. I've played a Roman Campaign through to around 90AD (jumping a year or two each time it froze until there was no problem after 1AD). There may be a map glitch around Maronia (the game froze during a battle there where I attacked a Seleucid seiging army).
How far has anyone taken a Platinum edition game? Rather than 'hope' that it's been fixed how about some hard evidence? If you are going to 'sell' something make sure it says it what it is on the packet first!
Can't wait till RTR 7 comes out.

I heard using rome sage was bad and could screw up RTR. Can a team member clarify this please?

That`s only for the RTW v1.5 on which Platinum is based.Originally Posted by The Walrus

Harsh words. And I don`t know why you made this little intervention. I said "hope" because I did not tested it myself. Marcus did and he said it is all right. So we are not trying to "sell" anything. I was just informing. I did not choose "Platinum" for it`s title and the RTR 6 Gold does have that problem on which nobody is working to fix. As you said you have to keep using that tool. And I didn`t mean to antagonize people. I just gave an information. You took it almost personally. LOL. Not a Platinum fan I see.How far has anyone taken a Platinum edition game? EDIT: I apologize if anyone thought that I was promoting RTRPE at the expence of Gold and denying RTR 6 legacy. RTRPE is just a port of RTR 6 Gold. I am very grateful to the RTR Team for making RTR 6, but as a RTW Gold Edition owner I am also grateful to LestaT for doing this port. I can`t play any mods for RTW v1.2 because of my game version which is 1.5 by default.
I am part of the Technical Support Team for RTR - it's a fairly common utility to use and was mentioned quite often in the RTR forums (recommended use). It can be used to change the unit size, battle time limit, time (year and season) and the long / short campaign. I've only ever used it to change the year. I did have to use it every two or so years during the 'late campaign' but as I posted it cleared and ran smoothly since 1AD (it was a real pain having to do this).Originally Posted by The Walrus

Have you also tried to use it with RTW v1.5 and the mods based on it. All my tries ended in failure. And I also received many reports about it messing the year date and more. I tried it with both vanilla RTW v1.5 and RTRPE and I got year dates like 23124G (just an example and not a real situation). It does say on the readme that it supports RTW v1.5 and Bi v1.6 IIRC, but I still get these things. Any ideas?Originally Posted by Brusilov
EDIT: Oh, I forgot to say this Brusilov. Some people took it(a platinum campaign) as far as the 66 BC CTD. That`s how we came to know about it(that is still there I mean). So, that means that Platinum is at least just about as stable as Gold in that regard.
EDIT #2: I want to ask everyone to try and not turn this "which is more stable" into a dispute between Gold and Platinum. Something like "which one is better".There`s really no point for that. I`m for platinum because I can`t use gold so....
Thanks for clarifying that florin80
PS if anyone wants the Steve Irwin signature PM me

For stability, hardware do infact take an account and not just the mods. 1.5/1.6 (RTRPE) do takes alot more resource than 1.2 (RTR 6).
I agrred with Florin regarding this:
There wont be a Platinum if it's not for Gold...EDIT #2: I want to ask everyone to try and not turn this "which is more stable" into a dispute between Gold and Platinum. Something like "which one is better". There`s really no point for that. I`m for platinum because I can`t use gold so....![]()
