CTD around 244BC
Hello there!
Firstly, let me say this mod looks fantastic and plays really well. The Ai has pulled a few dirty tricks, is highly aggressive, and even butchered one of my best armies - exactly what I'm looking for!
However, now the bad news... in my current campaign (imperial, Julii) I can't get past 244 BC. I've completed the short campaign, and am now playing on for the civil war and Rome. Haven't had the Marius Reforms yet. I'm running RTW/BI patched to 1.6, DM 8.0 on that, and the only change I've made is to remove most of the grain resources to stop the bunny explosion.
While the AI is processing 244 BC winter end of turn, it always CTD's. I've tried moving things around to change the save file, even gone back and played from a previous save, but no dice. Still kills the game.
The most frustrating thing is, having crushed the Gauls and bottled the Britons up, I've finally dealt a decisive blow to those treacherous dogs in Germania (curse those spear warbands)! At last it looks as though my northern border is secure, after a long and hard struggle, though I still have trouble with the Spanish and the Dacians, and I'm having to do so major juggling to pay my soldiers' wages. All in all, a brilliant campaign, which just makes this bug all the more frustrating!
I appreciate there are a thousand variables that may cause this, but any ideas? As things stand, I'm wondering if I should just unload the mod. That would be a shame, as in all other respects it's great, but I need stability for a long campaign.
Not wanting to be hasty, I'll shelve this one for now and start another. May Jupiter Optimus Maximus (or whoever is the chief god of my next faction is) guard me from the devils in the code!

Re: CTD around 244BC
Do you play unmodded 8.0 or the 8.1 open beta?

8.0, though I have amended the grain resources (removed most of them, to reduce pop growth). Haven't made any other changes though.

Re: CTD around 244BC
If you have done the slightest syntax error in the text...you get CTDs but maybe not your fault of course...just a notice.
Try the open beta 8.1

Re: CTD around 244BC
Yeah, it occurs to me I'd sometimes get CTD's with vanilla, so amy or may not be anything to do with the mod.
I'm on another Julii campaign now, and so far it's stable (haven't got to 244BC yet). I presume I can't change the mod version half way through, so I'll go to 8.1 when I'm done with this one.
Thanks for the feedback.

Re: CTD around 244BC
Well, my cunning plan to annex Spain prior to the invasion of Gaul has somewhat backfired, so now having a gang of angry Iberians joining the growing queue of Gauls, Germanians and Carthaginians has rather put the kibosh on my dreams of imperial glory.
So, may as well give 8.1 a crack. Now for a rather noobish question - where is the link for the download? Couldn't find it in thread.
EDIT: Nevermind - found it.

Re: CTD around 244BC
i dont know why i also get CTDs around 240ish.
right now in my carthage campaign i cant get passed yr 240bc. tried everything that the OP did. several saved files, etc.
this problem also occured in my previous julii campaign when it wasnt on version 8.0.
and now im using 8.0.
in both cases couldnt get thru past these yrs and the only things that i changed was to
1. give academy law bonus
2. increase corruption level kick in from 50,000 to 500,000
3. corrected the error for cataphracts, instead of archer i put spearman
but same problem AGAIN for the 2nd time. frustrating.
was enjoying ur mod so much. its a real pitty

Re: CTD around 244BC
Pls do not talk to me about DM_8.0 issues when I have introduced 8.1 which fixes probably all.
And of course if someone mini-mods his game is out of my control.
I know that a simple syntax error (untraceable by internal show_err compiler) can cause this kind of CTDs.
Do install 8.1
and do not mini mod to pass this date.

Re: CTD around 244BC
No No...
I am sorry if it sounded I was unhappy too.
I just released open beta 8.1 which hopefully resolves any minor past issues so all the posting for DM_8.0 becomes obsolete.
Also I know (from myself) that a single mistake in text editing can cause strange and untraceble CTDs so you should never be sure that you have done the correct modding unless you are very experienced.
