But worry not guys these are basicly the best units of the Roman army versus Egyptian levies, I expect stats will be more even for Egyptian regulars.

Charge bonus between cavalry, infantry and elephants are not comperable, the main factor behind the power of the charge has always been and will always be the unit mass. I thought everyone knew this by now. It is an invisible stat tied to the model or the mount in the case of cavalry.

Thanks for pointing this out I had forgotten about this. I guess the stats are being tweaked as I remember Al saying that they were going into beta after rezzed...It seems clear that the current stats need to be tinkered for balance (camel spearmen at the very least)

My main motive though was to discuss the performance of units in light of these stats. Now we can see why the egyptian inf. lost so easily against the cohorts. But I believe that AI should have used their superior cav units instead of charging their inf down the hill...i mean, a cav with charge bonus 125 speeding downhill would have destroyed any sword infantry - would have loved to see that

I don't want to start a new useless discussion with a guy firmly convinced that roman legionaries were just like the Asterix ones, forgetting the workout, the techniques of attack and defense and personal training. I've learnt the lesson.

Cool, there was some stuff in the battle that I thought seemed wrong( as you pointed out in your post). I kind of thought the ballista was overpowered when it brought 100+ men down in 2 or 3 shots

This was a scripted battle, veteran Roman units v Egyptian Levies/conscripts for the most part.
