After spending all day yesterday trying to get this mod working, I finally succeeded and I thought I'd give some feedback. This is one brilliant mod! I've been looking for a more historic mod with better AI for a while and I think I've found it. I've played a few turns of a Byzantine (whose units look beautiful!) and England campaign so far and it's excellent. I've even been ambushed by rebels on the way to Rennes, but managed to fend them off with repeated charges from my extremely nice-looking mailed knights. Just did a custom battle as the Crusader States as well and I'm really pleased to see St. Lazarus knights amongst the usual appearances.

Finally, the music is rather lovely. One question: have the mod-makers been playing Mount & Blade: The Wedding Dance mod and that extremely difficult Age of Empires II Battle of Hastings scenario?

Nice to see your enjoying it. Sadly the maker of SS 6.4 are no longer working on it. There are a multitude of submods that offer some fun once you get bored with regular 6.4

If n one is working on SS, why is there a thread for 7.0?

Because it has been started but there is no real progress on it since about late 2012. You can check out the titanium project though, it is a sort of an unofficial 6.5 which will combine submods and other things.

If you want even better byzantine units try out claudillos byzantine units submod.
