Default Looking for a faction to play

Ive been around SS quite some time, played alot of factions. Looking for a nice campaign now, ive tried to start a new one 4-5 times but get bored quite quickly. Any memories of people's favourite campaigns? note that im playing with the SS map adjustment project (I wanted to do a late campaign but cant get it to launch through steam with a second install of SS). Ive been playing alot of TATW lately but looking for a change of flavour. I thought about Seljuks, but theres no way to start that campaign without getting steamrolled on the west front early by the crusader states. Thanks ladies n gents.

I don't know exactly what your preferences are, but I myself suggest:
    1. Lithuania - making some pagan sieges of Rome could be interesting and Lithuania is quite difficult.
    2. Start with some small east faction - make only small land bastion and then - ship crusades and fight with mongols (after You defeat muslims).
    3. Seljusk also could be fun - "because of reasons" You wrote

    Give sign when You decide!

Lithuania could be alot of fun, difficult religiously but that just means I will be unable to blitz everything. Very intriguing. Only thing I think i use the console for is to move powerful heretics to a deserted island. I wouldnt mind the odd 3-5 piety, even the rare 8-10 piety heretic, but constant streams of 8-10 is just annoying.

My favorite campaign is the when I try to recreate the Roman Empire. As the Eastern Roman (Byzantine) Empire, I take back Italy, Turkey, and all the loste Mediterranean lands.
Here is the map of the Byzantine Empire at its peak.

I say take the English. Their bowmen can pack a punch. The French have good cavalry so you might like them. My personal favorites are the Byzantines.

You can try the Khwarezmians on late campaign, but that would be quite hard, since the Mongols will be invading you. You can try the early era. Sicily is also a good option. They have good units, the norman knights for example, and they start with a small territory. It's a bit tricky to play with sicily since they have problem with the gold.

I suggest to play factions with mostly melee troops such as Lithuania, CS, or HRE.

I had played some archers factions and feel passive and bored in battles since we mainly wait for enemies to come. (except playing the Mongols)

It is indeed the Byzantine empire at its peak at the time of Justinian.

Venetians are surprisingly fun, since you can roflstomp everyone for the first 100 turns with your urban spear militia armies.

I wanted to try Byzantines, but I really hate the namings of the units/characters so "greeky" for me.. and the flag is terrible and the color..

That's why I end up with factions like TO, flags/banner is so simple and its color, and Jerusalem as well.
Sometimes sticking to the "historcal accuracy" too much, ruined the game for me.

That's one of the things I like about Stainless Steel, most of the names and words are in English (obviously there are rare exceptions like some Byzantine units). I have played some otherwise excellent mods but can't understand what faction's what and what's going on some of the time as I don't understand the language being used. I think the occasional Greek name does add some flavour to the faction, though.
