What was the quickest you were able to train archers and how did you go about it? thanks

You can recruit Cretan archers in Greece and perhaps some other places. But you can't train archers. Why? Probably to not allow you to play defensively. But really, the only time I suffered without them was during bridge defenses, getting rained on my Persian archers, but ultimately I never lost a single one anyway (the AI sucks, I should mention).

by recruit do you mean mercs or do you mean that you can build archers in your citys but can't increase their experience? if you mean the latter, what is the quickest way to recruit them? is there a city that can recruit them from the time you take it or is it quicker to develop the means in the citys you start with?
