Default Need some campaign advice, Norway Late Era

    Hello,

Which moves should I make if I want Norway to be as strong as possible within 10 turns?
What are the most important buildings for units or the economy? And which nearby rebel settlement should have my priority?

    REP++ for useful advice
    Will and act until victory

Well its pretty standard for all factions. Havent played a Norway campaign in a long time but I will give you some general advice

Take any rebel settlements you can get to as fast as possible, other factions will also try and take these first.
    Set all taxes to low
first worry about getting your population increased. Once that is done you can upgrade settlments and get better units
Allie with Denmark and Concentrate on either going East to novgorod or West to England/Scotland. Going West will probably be easier since the island will give you security against most attacks, but you have to worry about the pope.

I always captured Scandinavia and Finland at First as Norway, and usually left Denmark alone to avoid issues with the Pope.

Then I've usually secured the Baltic coastline, Prussia and Lithuania are good targets. Going Viking rampart across the British Isles can be fun too, and it's easy to defend.

    - taxes to low
    - farms first, always farms first. then warehouse for coastal settlements and markets for inland.

    1. peace with denmark
    2. raiding/sacking along the non-catholic coastline and rebel settlements. This will fund #3.
    3. Prep an invasion force, then march on Nottingham, and from there slowly secure the British Isles.
    4. Send a diplomat down to Pope to buy reputation while you smack England and Scotland around.

Aarhus and Roskilde are actually pretty good income early game and Aarhus tends to be one of the richest cities in many of my campaigns. Those combined with castle at Kalmar should ensure Norway's rise. I did AAR awhile ago playing as Norway- http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...71#post8479471

Blitz Scandinavia and go southeast and take Kalmar before Denmark reaches it. By then you should have a line of territories from the North Sea to the Baltic and you can take the territiories north of your line at your leisure. May have to make an alliance with Denmark to keep them from attacking you, but it's doable if you take a couple turns to build up and then move east.

Then, take a ship to the mainland and take Riga if you can (if Lithuania doesn't have it yet), otherwise go for Reval and try for Poltosk or Pskov to establish a foothold. From there, attack any non-Catholic factions at your leisure.

Thing to note as Norway - You can block Scotland from attacking you. Essentially recruit a whole lot of longboats, and have them search out enemy fleets, particularly when they hang around coast lines to pick up armies. Then, encircle them with longboats. For Scotland keep an eye on Inverness, but particularly Edinburgh - you can easily trap their fleets there. With Scotland out of the way you should be able to develop normally. It is worth keeping a few boats watching the North Sea, to intercept and encircle English fleets bringing armies to you.

For openning moves - take Skara immediately. Besiege it with what you ahve and recruit some units from Oslo to reinforce them. Once that happens then every single threat from the East then has to go through Skara, which is very useful once it becomes a castle. Once there, you have to make a decision whether to go east and remove pagan / Orthodox from Europe, or head west to introduce superior Norse cuisine to those grubby Englishmen and dress-wearing scotsmen, or head south and become King of Scandinavia (Daneland sucks).

People have already said about standard plans. However,if you want to expand as quickly as possible, you must greatly weaken or eliminate your major enemy within the first 20 turns.Assemble your army and conquer Aarhus, Rosklide.Needn't worry about the Pope, because you'll surely be excommunicated when invading British islands
