    Default White noise problem.

I don't know what it is but as of yesterday, whenever I play on Oblivion i get a terrible buzzing sound coming out the amp's speakers. Its not them because I've tryed headphones into the pc and they do the same. It tends to get worse when i'm in a light area and it's not just on theat game either, i can sometimes hear a faint buzz when I open a new window or something in windows as well as it being on all other games but not so prominant. I've re-installed my sound drivers and still have the problem. Does any-one know what to do? I have onboard sound btw.

    EDIT:
    ANY-ONE?

Same here, but I usually get it in Splinter Cell while shooting. Hence the reason why I go "sneaky"

Get a sound card. What speakers do you have? They might be faulty.

Yeah, fiddle around with your sound settings, go into audio and speakers advanced options and turn down hardware acceleration for your sound card and see if that helps short term. Longterm, you might be looking at a new sound card purchase.

As I said in the other thread:

I have this problem with Oblivion my self, after doing some research I think its just a problem with Oblivion on certin sound cards. Switching to a Sound Blaster Audigy SE fixed it. I never heard of it happen in Windows though.

I have this problem when playing Battlefield 2 or installing Rome.
When I change the screen resolution it goes away...
It doesn't seem to matter which resolution I use; I just change it and its gone for some reason.

(I don't know how screen resolution affects my speakers...)

I've tryed on other speakers and on headphones so it's not them, i'll try the sound card option as i really need one if I want quality sound to go into my 100 watt speaker system. I've heard some-one put it like this, "It's like putting diesel into a ferrari." Do be honest I think the problem started when i installed NTW2, it ws buzzing but i thought it was just the game, but when I tryed others, most notably Oblivion it was just terrible though i've never had any trouble with oblivion or any other games before. The strange thing is, when I play media files, the actual music isn't effected in any way. I don't know how to explain it but it isn't the buzzing is still there somewhere, but the actual sound being played isn't effected. It seems to me that when there is a lot of graphical processing on a game etc, that is when it gets worse. Although I doubt it, could it be connected to the graphics-card in any way?

Have you tried uninstalling some unnesessary codecs? According to some Oblivion FAQ some codec/codec packs cause sound problem with Oblivion.

It's doing it on all games and through-out windows, it's just the Oblivion is un-bearable, will try though.
I tried the acceleration thing etc, but that makes it 10,000 time worse!

I'm not sure i've ever installed any new codecs, par on winamp installation as i've never had need too. How do I know which ones are needed or not?

    EDIT:
I don't know what happened but after fiddling around with my graphics driver, the noise is barely a wisper. Its should be bearable till I can get a new sound card at least. Still haven't a clue what is going on though. :hmmm:

Problem sorted, I have a new sound card now PLEASE CLOSE THREAD
