    Default The General Unit

    Hey all,

Just wanted to say, dont be afraid to buy a few general units. They are great for morale; if you try to charge the enemy without them, you will often fail, but keep an officer nearby and victory is yours! The game was balanced so that morale is tricky; leave a unit on its own getting shot at and they might decide to leave... but keep an officer nearby and they will stick around.

Also, dont forget to activate their "Encourage Men" ability to really get the most out of them!

Hmmm, can the Russian officers be dressed up in NKWD uniforms and given "Not one step backwards" option?

    LOL

You mean they won't take a step back or they tell that to the soldiers?
I think it would be more realistic if the Russian rally ability was better than the others....perhaps it could even have that name: "Not one step backwards"

No the Russian officers had that tradition long before WWII.
The difference was that the soldier was killed later and not during the battle (I think).

For the serfs and peasants the brutality of landlords was a common thing in life and there was not much to surprise the soldiers in this aspect. The majority of officers considered the best soldiers to be a humble and unthinking serf. Even during the Crimean War the world known writer Lev Tolstoy was struck by the difference between the confident bearing of the French and English prisoners and the servility and unmurmuringly submitting to officers of the Russian troops. (By the way, Cossacks were not serfs, they were free and had own land.)

Officer’s behaviour toward his subordinates supposed to be caring and patient - as father does toward his children. Such officer was nicknamed “father" by his happy troops.
altho not all officers adhered to this discipline, but the same can be said for the british armies officers
