Crash to desktop

Ive just installed rome total realism, ive done everrything right as far as im aware.

The game starts fine, i choose a faction to start with, the campaign starts to load then crashes to desttop.

Can anyone help???

Some things maybe to consider
-Are you installing over vanilla
-Have you modded anything since installing the game
-Make sure you are playing the right version of the game
-Try going into your world folder and deleting map.rwm if all else fails

Dont post duplicate threads, that is a bad thing to do here. Youi only need one thread, more wont help at all, it just gets you in trouble.

Also, you can try just completely reionstalling RTW if anything else Publius says doesnt work.

What you might want to do is make copies of vanilla in different folder like:
C\Program Files\Activision\ Rome - total War
Rome - Total Realism
And another mod


making sure that you make a copy of all the RTW files ( Data, .app, etc) and keeping a copy of vanilla in the original Rome - Total War folder.That way each mod has its own folder and won't interfere with others. You can also mod:switch although I don't know how to do that.

Make sure that you have the -show_err switch on the shortcut properties target. This may output an error message along with the CTD.

I had this exact same problem trying to run Europa Barbarorum. I think the solution suggested to me was that there is a problem running the mod when u instal RTW in the Program Files folder on Vista. I was told to reinstall the vanilla in another folder outside of Program files. Are you using Vista?
