Default Hidden unit attributes in EDU

Since I have seen this forum just recently and want to baptize myself as an alchemist ...(another title ...what a fantastic place to live in TWcenter )

I will reveal something I think not said before although I have told this unofficialy before to many other modders.

RTW 1.5/1.6 has some hidden attributes in EDU file which gives extra mass settings for foot units.

Lets see my hastati in DarthMod

    type roman hastati
    dictionary roman_hastati ; Hastati
    category infantry
    class light
    voice_type Light_1
    soldier roman_hastati, 42, 0, 0.45
    mount_effect horse -18, chariot -25, camel -18, elephant -50
    attributes sea_faring, hide_forest, can_sap, hardy
    formation 1, 2, 0.7, 1.5, 10, square, shield_wall
    stat_health 1, 0
    stat_pri 11, 2, pilum, 35, 2, thrown, blade, piercing, spear, 0 ,1
    stat_pri_attr prec, thrown ap
    stat_sec 5, 2, no, 0, 0, melee, blade, piercing, sword, 0 ,0.8
    stat_sec_attr area, light_spear, spear_bonus_10, ap
    stat_pri_armour 8, 8, 7, leather
    stat_sec_armour 0, 1, flesh
    stat_heat 3
    stat_ground 0, 0, 0, 0
    stat_mental 14, disciplined, trained
    stat_charge_dist 35
    stat_fire_delay -55000
    stat_food 60, 300
    stat_cost 1, 440, 190, 50, 70, 440
    ownership roman

Now If I add the following bold lines .....

    type roman hastati
    dictionary roman_hastati ; Hastati
    category infantry
    class light
    voice_type Light_1
    soldier roman_hastati, 42, 0, 0.45, 1, 0.8
    mount_effect horse -18, chariot -25, camel -18, elephant -50
    attributes sea_faring, hide_forest, can_sap, hardy
    formation 1, 2, 0.7, 1.5, 10, square, shield_wall
    stat_health 1, 0
    stat_pri 11, 2, pilum, 35, 2, thrown, blade, piercing, spear, 0 ,1
    stat_pri_attr prec, thrown ap
    stat_sec 5, 2, no, 0, 0, melee, blade, piercing, sword, 0 ,0.8
    stat_sec_attr area, light_spear, spear_bonus_10, ap
    stat_pri_armour 8, 8, 7, leather
    stat_sec_armour 0, 1, flesh
    stat_heat 3
    stat_ground 0, 0, 0, 0
    stat_mental 14, disciplined, trained
    stat_charge_dist 35
    stat_fire_delay -55000
    stat_food 60, 300
    stat_cost 1, 440, 190, 50, 70, 440
    ownership roman

I give to hastati except from mass 0.45, also x_radius(I think)=1 and (extra interunit spacing...I think)=0.8

Now if you play with them and give for example X_radius very small..even zero value ...you get immune units bcs the game cannot hit them with so little radius they have.
The other attribute gives much spacing between units (Very good for fantasy mods which use special giant units) and some extra pushing ability.

The X_radius also affects the spacing of units.

Play with them and give this to a unit to see bizarre look of it and extra new dynamics.

I did not use it bcs it causes some strange behaviour for realistic mod but I think this must be tested for fantasy mods especially those based on LOTR.
Also it can be used to mounted units (horses)
I played with it and in some settings I made cavalry total havoc maker....but of course not my liking.

Fantasy modders...use this tool at your discretion....Maybe the names and effects are not exactly those I stated above (Have tested not too much)....but seriously affect the battlefield.

I knew this a lot time ago (8 months for sure) and maybe this is elsewhere said...but lets make this 1st Alchemist post.

This is very new to me, Thanks Lord Vader,

I think I will share some of my discoveries, regarding turning things on fire, which cannot be otherwise, and changing various aspects of buildings in RTW and also about customizing particle effects and giving some custom one on the battlefield.

I'll make a new thread for it, soon.

How did you discover this if you do not mind me asking? I ask because I wonder if the methodology could be used to discover other "hidden" traits; which would be quite useful to the modding community.

IN BI, berserkers had this extra lines of code. I inserted them to the other units and they worked. I tried them to RTW...they worked again.
But in order to find other hidden attributes there can be no suggested methodology.
Only empirical tries of random text insertions and if you do not get a CTD...you have smthg there!

Quite scientific but rather time consuming. Still, thank you for the rapid response and the sharing of information.
