Default CTD after last battle against Romans

I have installed RTR platinium and it works great but a CTD occures every time the last Romans leader dies. I play as the Carthaginians (183BC) and I can't erase the Romans from the map : in battle or with an assassin, each time the last leader (Sextus the Engineer) dies and that the Romans faction dissapears, I get a CTD.
    Thanks for your help.

It might be connected with the city trying to rebel. If you use an assasin instead of conquering their last city it will become a rebel city and maybe that`s the problem. Try to avoid having that city rebeling and see if you still get the CTD. Also, what city is that and what version of RTRPE are you playing? Do you have other mods besides RTRPE?
Oh, and try using the toggle fow command to see where exactly the CTD occurs and try using the show err command. If you don`t know how to do it, see this:

    thanks for your quick answer.
I'm playing the 1.4 version but the problem is the same after patching with 1.6 version.
I don't think it's a rebel problem because I have still a CTD after taking the last Roman city (Ancona). The crash occures immediately on the strategic map after the end of the battle (Roman leader dead and last city taken). I have the french version of RTW.
    No other mod installed.

Not really sure what to say, but I have received no reports until now about a CTD when destroying the roman faction. Now:
    1. there were some problems with RTRPE v1.4 that were fixed in later releases. However, for some of them to take effect would requuire to start a new campaign
    2. using other version then the english version is known to cause problems. See this about the italian version:

Maybe there is something similar to yours. Try comparing those files.

My first guess is that its due to his using the French version of RTW to play RTR Platinum. I bet there is something different with the French version of the "event_titles.txt" and/or "event_strings.txt" files, the part of these two files that creates the pop-up message declaring that "Our might has played its part in crushing these people! Their former greatness is now dust, blown on the trade winds, and we will profit from their extinction." for when playing as the Cathaginian faction or the similar message when playing as the Macedonian faction. The game engine name in the "events_strings.txt" file for this message is "faction_defeated_body_carthaginian" in the english version of RTW. In the "events_titles.txt" file, the game engine name is "faction_destroyed". These are used by the game engine to generate the proper message for each played faction when an AI faction is destroyed. There are other possible files that could have something different with the French and English versions of RTW, but I know these 2 files are used immediately after defeating a faction when you return to the strategic map so that the "Faction Desctroyed" message can be generated.

Are you using the "-show_err" option for starting RTR Platinum? I'll see about installing the French version of the RTW v1.5 patch and look at these files for possible conflicts with the English version of them. I may need someone who has the French version of RTW to send me a copy if these files are not part of the RTW v1.5 patch. I'll have to wait until this weekend to look into this, but I won't have time until next Sunday or Monday due to ovcertime work late Saturday night/early Sunday morning. This problem sounds similar to various problems between the different language versions due to slight file differences in the text files used to display messages in various languages. If this is the problem, I should be able to solve it fairly easily and provide a correct file or files for you and others with the French version of RTW.
