The Battle of the Pass
Theon groaned as another horn blast echoed through the valley, rolling up and down the valleys and mountaintops in a cascade of impending doom. The Lannisters had been at it for days and the assault would come anytime now, the narrow path leading up to the fort having been cleared the previous day and ladders readied in plain view upon the slopes.
Rubbing his eyes, already in his leather armor, he grasped his longbow and sword and walked outside into the gloom whilst rubbing his eyes. All while cursing the bloody horn whom had kept him awake all night.

Black Lorren casually struck the man down, one of Theons few loyal men tasked with guarding the southern gate of the small fort. Behind him several dozen of his fellow shipmates followed, they would not remain to be slaughtered as cattle but melt back to the sea. The sea, where they truly belonged. Not in these cursed hills and mountains he thought.
Scoffing he kicked the now unconscious man out of the way but as he grasped the massive beam crossing the gates heavy thud sounded to his left, his ear feeling as it had caught fire. Clutching the tattered remains of it, he flinched at the pain and quivering arrow imbedded in the gate.
Fifty paces away, the dark shape of what could only be Theon stood, leaning upon a massive longbow. In the distance, the Lannister horn rung out once again.
“Hear that?” Theon called out “Thats the mating call of the Lannisters, how far do you think you’d get before their cavalry ran you down? Most of those men hail from Casterly rock and Lannisport. What do you think they’d do yo you once they catch up?”
More ironborn warriors started gathering, being roused by the shouting from their large tents.
“They want to buck us, return the favor in after what we’ve done to their homes.” Bounding back up from leaning upon the bow, he threw out his arms. “Well I've not had a good buck in weeks, I’m ready for them!” A few of the men chuckled, those within reach of Lorren remained eerily silent however.
“They say any ironborn man is worth a dozen men from the mainland, you think they're right?”
More than a few men jumped slightly, as the giant of a man Lorren grunted his agreement “Aye”
“We will all but surely die today brothers, die bleeding from a hundred wounds with arrows in our necks, and spears in our guts. But our warcries will echo through eternity. They will sing about this battle until the iron isles have slipped beneath the waves, every man, woman and child will know who we are and how long we stood!” More men gathered, a small group drawing up next to theon with weapons at the ready. Theon ignored them however as he locking eyes with the men before him, calling out their names one after the other.
“Ironborn warriors will cry out our names as they march into battle to slaughter our enemies” Several of the men cheered “mothers will name their sons after us, girls will think of us with their lovers inside them!” More men cheered and another hornblast sounded “And whoever kills that bloody hornblower will stand in bronze over the shores of pyke!” Laughing, the men cheered as one again.
"What is dead may never die" "What is dead may never die!" The men chimed in before cheering Theon joining in with his own cry, the letting out the entire nights frustration in a frantic scream. It was however cut off abruptly.
A large balistae bolt struck the ground, sending dirt and small stones in every direction and cutting the cheer short.
“If this is to be our end, then let us such an end, as to be worthy of remembrance... Get back to your posts, and let us show these little kittens what true men can do!” Another cheer of agreement and the men slowly started to disperse with only the small armed group and Lorren remaining, now leaning upon his humongous axe, blood running down the side of his grinning face.
“A good shot, could have taken my head clean off... And that speech, thought you’d never shut up!” Theon ignored him, turning to the men around him. “Report” Surprised, the soldier straightened up and coughed before replying. “Well... The Lannisters, they're gathering up to attack up the hill” Theon responded by slapping the soldier hard enough to send him tumbling to the ground, while cursing
“Then why have the alarms not been sounded, men sent to the walls!?”
The soldier looked dumbfounded before grinning, “I intended to leave with Lorren but then... Well, It was a bloody nice speech!”
Once again, the young kraken cursed before raising the alarms. The gods mock me as well as my men even in the face of death,
Lannister comes to pay their debts and i cant even hit that bastards big, ugly excuse of a head at fifty paces...
