    Default Forum Permissions

    folks,

I am going to post a list of who has access to what forums in this thread, I'll keep updating it as I clean up the Usergroups.

Now that the changes have been implemented there are effectively only 3 ranks:

    • Member
    • Artifex/Civitate
    • Patrician (Divus is set up to be the same as a Patrician)

This means the access is as follows:

Local Moderators, Members, Registered Users, Unregistered / Not Logged In, Users Awaiting Email Confirmation can:
    • See the Curia
    • See the Prothalmus
    • See the Curia Vote
    • See The Tabularium
    • See The Alchemist's Chambers
    • See the Symposium

    Artifex, Civitates, Patricians can:
    • see, vote and post in The Alchemist's Chambers and the Symposium
    • See the Curia
    • See the Prothalmus
    • See the Curia Vote
    • See The Tabularium

    Patricians, Strategos, Divus
    • Can see, vote and post in Curia, Prothalmus, Curia Vote, Symposium, The Alchemist's Chambers and Tabularium

Opifex, Senatorii Vechii, The RPG usergroups, the Banned usergroups and sub-forum moderators
    • have no rights in Curia or any sub-forum, they inherit the rights from Civitate/Artifex/Patrician

    CdeC
Membership is by invitation only (ie. vote in the Curia). No usergroup (except Strategos) can see the forum or the Civitate Antechamber.

Quaestio Perpetua & Consilium Lexus (plus their sub-forums relating to the tBP trial) have been moved to Admin Storage. I know there may be outstanding cases in there but I think we should start from a clean slate for the new Curia.

Why on earth would the CA staff want to see the prothalmus? I don't see the point to be honest.

Apart from that, thanks for all the work you have been putting in...and don't stuff up

Oh and make sure only civitates and above can see/post in the Symposium.

edit: JP can't post in the curia...he is a moderator, a patrician, and possibly other things, but he should be able to post in the curia.

edit2: No Tribonous can currently post in the curia.

Currently that is the case. Howver, it is possible for a Civitate to become a Trib. In this case he would not.

I'm curious as to why everyone can see all of the Curia and Prothalamos, especially the Prot., given its recent life as a place only seeable to Civitates and above.

I'll check, although the curia has been always visible. The prothalamos as well. It invokes interest from basic members to participate.

edit: do we really want to restrict this? I am pretty sure that a lot of our members get the idea of the curia by seeing it. And not to mention, they get an idea of what and how to post to become a civi or a patrician.
    Why make it so elite?

Curia and Prothalmus have always been viewable by everyone. No change there.

No, that isn't true. The proth has, in my time here, never been visable to non-civs. The Curia and the Tab where visable, none of the other subforums, until the councils came along, then those two were visable along with the tab.

I support everything being visable anyways... I like transparency...

To be honest, I see no reason why it should be hidden. nothing that contentious has been discussed, save ostrakons, and those have been changed substantially.

So let me see if this is correct, anyone who is staff now is made a patrician automatically because they are staff now, while people, who were very active staff in the past, are not automatically patricians simply because they are not staff now?

Current staff are Patricians, though in future it is not necessary. We did that for ease as much as anything else. Secondly, we ensured that all Senatorii who have logged on for the past two months are Patricians too. given that Patricians should be actively involved there was no point in adding them. should they log on, then they can be proposed to gain Patrician status. The only exception was Divii because - there are simply so few of them and their status is 'special.'

Firstly I don't like the idea of a hidden Curia. Without a possibility of 2 way communications between the general membership, civitates, patricians and staff all this becomes is an insular entity that serves no purpose. Apart from the CdeC deliberations (which I take it will be hidden from view for all but its members and the senior staff) there's nothing to hide IMHO.

Secondly, as a transitional measure concerning Senatorial eligibility to become patrician we could adopt a criterion like we used to have for senatorii in Quaestor elections, that they must have held a staff position within a certain period.
"Lay these words to heart, Lucilius, that you may scorn the pleasure which comes from the applause of the majority. Many men praise you; but have you any reason for being pleased with yourself, if you are a person whom the many can understand?" - Lucius Annaeus Seneca -

The Symposium is supposed to have its own un-official proth for legislative debate, though they need the patricians support to take anything in there to an actual vote
