Guild upgrade not working

So I've been hunting for the Swords guild HQ for awhile.

I finally found it in another factions city (Ragusa)

Sent an army to take the city

Demolished the Swords HQ there

Next Turn

Get offered the Swords HQ in the city I want it in (Caen)

I press the 'Accept' button.

...

Nothing happens ...

No $3000 is deducted, and current Guild (Master Swords) still there.

I thought that destroying guild buildings sunk your rating with them like a sack of bricks...

I thought that destroying guild buildings sunk your rating with them like a sack of bricks...

It does, but its just addition and subtraction ... If I've gained 900 points of favor with them, destroying a guild = -100, thats still 800 points of favor.

Maybe an AI faction got it offered and built it first?

That is indeed what happened. Found it again, in Antwerp this time. Decided just to take the castle instead of destroy it.

What puzzles me is why then, was I given the Guild HQ offer if another faction got it first?
