Default Use "the units in the four kingdom games" in the original medieval grand campaign map

i have heard that there is a simple mod to let the player to use "the units in the four kingdom games" in the original medieval grand campaign map.

eg. we can use the Greek Firethrower of "Kingdoms : Crusades" in the original medieval grand campaign map.

if it is true, where can i download the mod?

do anyone know it and can post me a link? thanks!

    http://www.twcenter.net/forums/forum...n-Retrofit-mod

Download Retrofit, and then download the Grand Unit Addon Mod

And you'll never play vanilla, again, without reinstalling the game.

thanks complete noob for the link

    i have read some comments.
some people said that the Grand Unit Addon Mod "had really bad battle-handling, all the units feel too flimsy they all die so fast, and its too easy to get "Super units" right away"
    is it true?

on the other hand, the Custom Campaign Mod will halve the upkeep costs for all units.
it is really not good as human player has already had too much money in the original game.

    so which mod is better?
    - i just want the units in the kingdoms expansion and
    - don't want to decrease the upkeep costs for units and
    - don't want to have a worse battle Al than the vanilla's one
(i can accept to use the vanilla battle Al in patch 1.3)
    what should i do?

There is only one way for way for your list, for you to learn to mod and that's what the Mod Workshop is for.

If you're bound and determined to use medieval2.exe and not a mod folder with kingdoms.exe, Retrofit and mod to taste BUT make a copy of your Medieval II Total War folder before installing it so you have a clean copy in case things don't go as planned.

If you want a good Kingdoms mod along the same lines, Kingdoms Grand Campaign.

    irishron, thank you!
medieval2.exe and kingdoms.exe are both good for me.
Kingdoms Grand Campaign is also a good suggestion.

however, its description says that it will have a huge map. it may take too much time in waiting turns.
actually, i have played the Stainless Steel mod, but it takes too too too long to wait in AI turns since its map is too large.
and finally, i find out that playing in a suitable size map is more enjoyable for me.
but after all, thanks for your suggestion

it is said that the content of Retrofit Mod 1.0 will be saved separately in a new mod folder when it is installed, right?
but how's about the Grand Unit Addon Mod? will its content be saved in another new folder?

KGCM can have a bit longer turns than vanilla, but it's not that big difference. SS long turns are this way due to scripts more than map size. But KGCM also has noticeably longer and slower campaign, it can easily take over 200 turns.

The difference between KCGM and SS is not map size but script size. KCGM is vanilla script for the most part and SS is custom from start to finish.

If you want Retrofit by itself, install it in a temp folder. Otherwise it will overwrite vanilla's unit files and folders. Been there, done that, and why I said if you are going to use Retrofit, "make a copy of your Medieval II Total War folder first" as Retrofit will destroy it for you.
