And know jack **** about it.
Any reccomendations for my up and coming music collection?
On an unrelated note: what Bob Marley songs should I not miss under any circumstances?
Expanded for classic rock, house and techno, all of which I will be needing (no real problems with the former, but suggestions are always welcome).

Sure I've been called a xenophobe, but the truth is Im not. I honestly feel that America is the best country and all other countries aren't as good. That used to be called patriotism.

    Hey well rap replied.

    People/Groups I'd recommend:

    Black Star
    Talib Kweli
    Mos Def (my favourite rapper)
The Roots (my favourite rapping group)
    Common
    Nas
Eyedea and Abilities (Hip-Hop from here in MN)
Atmosphere (again more MN Hip-Hop, and better flow than Eminem!)
Jurassic 5 (my favourite LA rapping group)

Personally, I've gotten into rap mostly through jazz and funk-jazz. Groups like the Roots do alot to include a jazzy vibe, especially through the rhythm section of bass and drums, into their songs.

Cypress Hill and NWA are also pretty good, but I don't like West Coast partyish stuff as much as East Coast partyish like Busta Rhymes.
I know Shyam rides Talibs nuts all the time, but I really like Mos Def better. Just check out Mos Def and Talib Kweli are Blackstar, thats a classic album. My fav song is Thieves in the Night.
Indeed, the mighty Mos Def is freakin' amazing.

    NOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!

Well I guess so long as you like Censor bypass removed - imb39 like Afroman, A tribe called quest and Boom Bap project it's ok.

As for Bob Marley, it's impossible to recommend just a few songs as all of them are great. You should just buy the album Legend for starters, but the songs I really like are:

    Mr. Brown
    All in One
    Touch Me
    My Cup
    Mellow Mood
    Babylon System
    Zimbabwe
Bad Card -- This is a must dude, you'll see why after listening to it
    Jah Live
    Sun is Shining
    Fussing and Fighting
Kaya -- If you smoke herb, then you'll absolutely love this song. My favorite Marley song to toke to
African Herbsman -- Once again smoke to this song
    Stir it up
    Forever loving Jah

The great thing about Marley is he has all kinds of music. Wither you are feeling really chill and are smoking a J/bowl to dancing with all kinds of people his music has great variety.

What kind of rap do you want? I like some early 90's rap like N.W.A, De La Soul, Public Enemy, etc. Nas is good. Oh, and Sage Francis is easily the best white MC in history, I would check him out before anyone else, I'm hooked on his stuff.

It depends on what you like really, I'm not into most of todays american Rappers tough I like the old school stuff like eazy e NWA etc....

I tend to listen to international stuff more like furiuz stylez (from the netherlands here's two clips: kepala batu and Panna Punchlinez

Starflam from belgium I love their beats here's a clip: La Sonora

french rapper IAM: here's a clip independenza

German rap is pretty good too, here's a clip from the band brothers keepers: adriano this is actually one of my favourite songs because of the lyrics, it's about racism, neo nazism etc.. it was a reaction to the beating to death of an "immigrant" by a few nazis. the chorus sais basicly that we "immigrants" won't take it annymore "this is something like a last warning, because our counter attack is now being planned, we'll storm in where you hang out, we'll ofer your brown (brown is the political color of extreme right) s@#t resistance, what we'lloffer is our fists and not our hand! your downfall forever and what we will hear is your crying and whining"

    I'll post more clips later

The beatles are like a million years old dude, theres only so many times you can listen to the white album before you need something new. Rap is "new", the beatles arent releasing any more new albums, but Wu Tang, Nas and the Fugees still might.

There are other albums then the white album. There is Please Please Me, A Hard Day's Night, Help!, Revolver, White Album, Sgt Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band, Magic Mystery Tour, Beatles For Sale, Abbey Road, and a few others. All of them sound different unlike most rap music today.

k thats wrong, you just dont know about enough rap to see how much variety there is. Dude, theres been 50 years of beatles already. Rock has moved on, the youth have moved on already. People still revere the beatles and classic rock, that isnt going away, but its all "old" music. If you want relevence, social, political...you dont look to classical rock.

infact, go away, he asked for rap recommendations not classic rock music. You people will not annex this rap thread, rock n roll has enough support already, dont infringe on our right to exist! Yes we're all aware that SOME people think rock is better than (c)rap. Har har har, very funny, now go away and let us discuss our hobbies in peace. Thats how Jimi would have wanted it, man.

Yeah your are right I should leave since he asked for rap. Also crap is a mixture between country and rap. Last, The Beatles are pop/rock and roll. I'll leave now.
