Icon5 Single city start for all factions, is it possible?

    Hi Everyone,

New on the forums, was hoping that someone could recommend to me a mod or map that makes all factions in the game start with only one city in their possession. Essentially what I'm wanting to create is a game where there will be many factions starting as each city is owned by a faction, which will slowly change as factions are knocked out leaving a few powerful factions. In terms of map size I could go for anything from the size of the British Isles to a full map. Thanks for time and hope one of you can help.

    Cheers
    Scott

I think you just need to modify descr_strat and cut-and-paste all but one of the cities for each faction into the slave faction. Not sure if there are any mods that do it, though.

Just remember that the # of factions you can have is capped at 32 which is including the rebels and the papal states.

You'll also have to change the coordinates of the factions armies that were in the settlements you'll make rebel, then create (you can copy-paste and adjust) rebel armies to put in them.

@Baltic Warrior are you sure? I remember it's 31 with rebels. Papal states is a special faction but it can be changed/removed, only rebel faction is necessary.

It is 31 with the rebels already in there because they are a must faction I guess.

Thanks for helping guys. Going to give this a try this weekend. Will this strategy work with the kingdoms expansion?

Of course, most mods are made on top of kingdoms because of the added features in it.

Just double checking, there are defiantly no mods that achieve this? Or have this kind of playstyle? I'm not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to modifying files

I though of making a mod like this but more to see which faction expands the fastest. My plan was to make a straight line of settlements for every faction though and see them race to the finish.

And no, there is no mod that does what you ask, none that I know of at least.

It's an interesting idea, but most modders like to do the borderline historical accuracy idea with starting positions. I have yet to see one mod where they give conglomerates like, say Egypt, more, or the turks one region.

It would be really interesting to do with those mods with a lot of region, like Stainless Steel.

I didn't hear of any, only chance would be some old mod buried somewhere. Nearly all mods aim at historical accuracy, what you want is to "sacrifice" history for a more random and interesting game.
