How do you beat the Timurids?

It's the elephants. The rest of the armies are meh. But whoever the hell thought slapping cannons on top of Elephants was a good idea needs to be. . .well, the studio that made this game is closed anyways.

From a developers standpoint, I thought the Timurids were there to coax you into the gunpowder era.

Cannons and musketeers make short work of vanilla Timurids.

Here's an easy tactic I use. I just stay in my castles with a few units of cannons or catapults, and when they start shooting at your walls move those units out of the gates and fire on their elephants. they will let you fire on them the entire time unless you get too close.

They'll probably make it inside but the rest of your army should be able to finish them off at the second wall with archers and the towers firing on them. Just let them waste their armies on your castles and the rest are easy since they're pretty weak without elephants. If you're on the offensive its sometimes better to ignore their cities and just take their castles. This will make it harder for them to produce good troops and gives you easily defensible positions. Then just bring up some other armies later to take the cities.

They once controlled half the map because I was playing so slow and not expanding and I thought I was dead for sure but by taking their castles I was able to slowly push them back. Then I used some secondary armies to take the cities. Just make sure you take full stack armies because they might be cut off from your other troops for a while.
