Please Help: Formations Problem

Tested with RTW.exe and BI.exe. Appears in Custom battles and Campaign.

Is there a way to avoid this strange formations? I had battles where this didn't happen. The thing is that the enemy's soldiers are using the space good and embrace my units. But my units don't do that.

Are your units in guard mode?

Yes, they are in guard mode. The unit tries to keep it's formation. But this is really annoying sometimes because the units take their formation where the first officer is. That's why units stupidly form up. Very annoying in siege battles. But that's hardcoded so it's the game...

Thank you guys!! Yes that's it. I didn't know that the units would do that when activating Guard Mode. Again, thanks for Help!

Guard mode is still useful so long as you don't order them to attack. Very effective for holding choke points.

Yeah, if you order them to attack with guard mode on they'll try to keep their original formation.
