Default Family members as Generals of a Legion getting married?

I really like having one of my family members who have some decent traits and things to be the General of a Legion. I usually leave him patrolling a certain area and then bring him back to retrain any lost troops. But because I leave him out in the 'field' all the time does he still get a chance of getting married? From my experience only family members who I put as Governers of cities get married.

Obviously it goes down to the certain traits like 'Handsome' and 'Flaccid' but assuming if he had desirable traits for marriage does he still have a good chance of getting married if he is fighting 24/7? I kind of what him to continue his lineage

I guess this also applies to rtw in general and mods?

Because you leave him 'out in the field' he will eventually exceed the command period he is granted ('Imperium', the power of command, normally granted for between 3-5 years). The Senate/Imperator will require him to lay down that command for at least a short time (a single End Turn will do) and return to/spend time in a Settlement.

This needs to be done for all Patricians/Family Members now and will apply to all classes in v2.6. Whilst in the settlement he will have the opportunity to seek a suitable Wife.

In short, rotating command in the field and pursuing a civilian career is entirely the way to proceed if you are playing RSII 'fully' and wish to see your characters progress. Having a spare Junior General to assume temporary command amongst 3-4 armies (moving around) is a good idea and also results in having a ready-trained 'spare' if disaster falls.

RSII 2.5/2.6 Tester and pesky irritant to the Team. Mucho praise for long suffering dvk'.

My Lord Tedric, could you clarify a bit? Does moving a general WITH his legion into a settlement allow for a civilian career to flourish? Or must they be separated from the legion? Also do these settlements have to posses the Civitas state?

    Thanks

I don't think it is that specific. Besides having the legion in the settlement doesn't strictly mean your general is still commanding it.

Indeed - it's all about the location of the character. He's either 'EndedInSettlement' or 'NotEndedInSettlement' if I remember the conditions correctly. If he's the latter then he's 'In the field' and therefore pursuing a military career - the former and he's a comfy civvy type.

When you have more than one character in a settlement - one of them is always identified (yellow start iirc) and he would be in command if there were any siege-type battles. He would be the one with the most command experience.
