    Default Help with Portraits

    Hi!

    I'm trying to change the portraits of the Martells on the youngbloods submod. I tried the portraits submod, and also tried to change manualy, but in both cases the game goes back to the menu when I click to start the campaign. I don't have any experience with modding, and what I could find using google doesn't seem to help a lot, so I think it's time to ask some help.

    Now, what I did:

    1) Tried the portraits submod (doesn't work);
    2) Started with a clean backup of the youngbloods folder and added the portraits to the "D:\m2tw\mods\youngbloods\data\ui\custom_portraits" folder
    3) Changed the "D:\m2tw\mods\youngbloods\data\world\maps\campaign\imperial_campaign\descr_strat.txt" file like this:

    character Daemon Sand, named character, male, age 19, x 101, y 20, portrait daemon
    I just added the black part to the characters I was trying to change the portrait.

    4) Also, I changed the default portraits for the generals in the folder "D:\m2tw\mods\youngbloods\data\ui\middle_eastern\portraits" but that did nothing at all.

    Somebody here must have had a similar problem to mine, but I didn't found anything usefull searching the forum. Can somebody help me?
    Thanks in advance.

    P.S.: Sorry for the bad english. Not my primary language.

    I'd say at a guess what you did for the "default portraits for the generals" is what's causing your problem.

    It could also be a number of things with your portrait if you've messed it up. Make sure the portrait file is named 100% the same as the name in desc_stat for example, if your portrait file is named Daemon or deamon and you have y 20, portrait daemon then it may cause a problem due to difference in caps, or even a minor spelling mistake. If you have edited anything else, could also be the problem. This is why you should keep back-ups of literally everything you edit and only edit things individually rather than in a bundle because its easier to find the cause of the problem if you've only edited a single thing since last successful load.

    My advise is to undo your changes to the default portraits or get a clean install and then focus on a single thing at any given time, rather than changing 2-3 things and ending up without a clue as to witch one is causing a problem.

    How about you check the westeros system log? Usually the answer is to be found there!

    Try telling my viewers that, most of them don't know where the system log is yet alone understand it.

    And even if you do understand it, chances are it'll be utterly useless.
