    Default CTD after heroic battles

Am I the only one who experience this? after some very decisive or heroic victories I get a CTD when it goes to the loading screen. For the year I've been on this mod, I've seen it happen frequently. I'm asking to see if anybody else has this issue and knows a fix for it. I just got done with one of my best battles yet with Hannibal when my units are already battered and down to maybe half or less men with every unit. I'm about to put a crippling blow on to the Gallaeci by taking their capital when a 2800 manned stack plus the 400 in their capital attacks. I have only 1500 men and I won. I was able to keep my any units from routing as well. I felt good and as the screen began to load the campaign map....CTD....

Hm, does your game works without lags? It's mostly your computer or it could be the script. There are several reasons for ctds. 90% of mine were related to the script, because I didn't load it properly. My advise would be to test different settings in the Nvidia control paneel if you have it. My game works like a charm and the graphics are amazing. Sometimes my eyes hurt because of the high quality. I can fight a battle with over 15.000 man on a battlefield without any lag. Just play a little with the settings to find the best for you.

I believe there was a tip for this kind of CTD. I don't remember most of the details but I think it said that you should wait a couple of minutes or so before clicking the tick/check button after the battle. It's got nothing to do with graphics my friend so you're good. It's related to system memory and caches and all those CPU stuff not related to GPU. I should know because my crappy PC plays RS2 without CTDs.

This waiting is only for that if your PC works hard. I don't need to wait. I can return directly to the campaign map without problems. 8 Gb RAM, new CPU and my settings in the control paneel makes RSII working perfectly.

    The script won't cause CTDs

    And, as I've said before.......

This particular CTD seems mostly related to having Anti-Virus/Anti-Malware s/w running. It's simply that the file changes done in the hand-over from Battle-module to Campaign are far too 'malware-like' these days and thus they are prevented.

The mod and game (in nearly all cases) are otherwise perfectly stable - it's just that RTW/RSII needs to be rather gently cosseted.

I'll try and do the 2 min wait after the battles. Thanks for your inputs on the matter. Ive lost so many important battles because I would have to redo them over and not feel like it so I sim....Also my laptop isnt that bad. I have an i5 witth 6gb of ram.... no graphics card tho lol.

Not to say that this is not also a cause, but my PC has zero anti-virus software on it (as I have deleted it all) and I still get CTD after large battles. The number of men involved is the surest guide to the liklihood of this happening.

Whilst I only ever play with 'Large' unit settings to reduce overall strain (and for the better look and feel), that really shouldn't be a factor. I too used to get the post-battle CTD, but not once since I disabled AV. It's why I now use a pure standalone - and get no CTDs at all.

As a word of warning, however, if you have your PC connected to the internet and do 'normal things' (and not even risky ones) without having any form of AV/AM s/w (and Windows itself is not too bad at trying to look after itself as well), then you are at considerable risk.
