    Default what about the AI?

The most important problem of this grat game is to solve the stupid AI (suicide generals, for example). Do you know something about the improvements that CA are doing in MTW2 with the AI?

Thanks and sorry for my bad english.

Well Ca have said on numerous occasions: gaming websites previews and interviews, the podcasts etc. that they are improving the ai and the various ways they have improved it.

In the battlefield: ai will use the terrian more to its advantage, armies will be more cohesive, ai will perform flanking attacks better.(thats what i can remember, the latest podcast has loads of info on this)

In the campaign: ai nations will remember you actions and that will affect your dealings with you. Once you get to a certain size smaller nations will begin to ally against you, ai will attack your heartland provinces more. It will also move better on the campaign map, and diplomacy has been improved.

Some selected passages about the battle AI from the podcast.

Battle AI has developed incrementally since Rome. Example: Cavalry will now behave more logically. They will make more flanking maneuvers and better analyze the enemy army composition and select targets for maximum effect. This also applies to heavy infantry & archers.

    - Overall expect better unit target selection and army cohesion (units sticking together as a whole).

    - Crossing defense (bridge battles & river crossings) - AI will analyze its army composition and strength and that of your army along with the number of crossing points and plan its defense or assault accordingly.

    - Missile heavy armies (or those with a decided advantage in missile units over the enemy) will delay melee combat as long as possible so as to take advantage of its missile troops.

    - Missile poor armies (or those with a decided disadvantage) will attempt to engage in melee combat much more quickly.

    - Siege AI has also undergone radical changes. Street fighting, wall defense, unit selection and placement and multi-ring logic (i.e. the 'rings' of walls surrounding a castle or city) have all been improved. Example: If a player's artillery begins pounding a specific tower then the AI will anticipate an attack in that area and will remove archers from the walls and replace them with infantry. Regarding street fighting the AI will determine choke points and dispatch heavy infantry to defend them. With multi-ring castles the AI will determine when is the best time to deploy back and guard the next ring to maximize the damage inflicted on the player.

Sure sounds promising TB666. I don't expect a brilliant AI, but at least one that knows how to form a battleline.

Yes. That sounds real good. But anyways I´ll wait to a "Medieval Total Realism" to play. For me, Rome TW was unplayable until the release of Rome Total Realism.

    I´ll wait months, no mather.

I do really hope the AI is much better than RTW's. Replay value depends heavily on how good the opposition is and some games do trully have excellent AI built in.

The main problem in RTW is that AI can't conquer any medium citty with a small garrison...... Defensive towers kill half of AI army everytime...... and our army in center do the rest! With 3 rings of defense i bet AI never will conquer a single human castle in MTW2, even with 3/4 more army!!!
