feudal knight!
Janissary heavy infantry by far. Saved me from mongol hordes in one battle! 9 full armies of bloodthirsty mongols and my firm line of Janissaries
Muahah, you just wasted 3 seconds of your life!
hahahaha! when i faced those heathen they were beaten by a mere Byzantine Infantry! and Varangian Guard!
(Its clickable by the way....An S2 overhaul mod.)

Don't know why but Armenian Heavy Cavalry were one of my favorite units from MTW1. I also liked Jannisary Infantry, not the heavy. The sword and bow combination made them very useful on the battlefield.
were there Rifles in MTW?
I am proud of the Janissaries, just like the praetorians, they rock, but they have / had too much power
There were arquebuses and muskets, not rifles. Also, I must mention Heavy mamluks (or whatever, it's been a while), they co-operated succesfully with my janissaries when slaying those mongol bastards.
Muahah, you just wasted 3 seconds of your life!
Longbowmen, militia's and a light cavalry unit like hobilars are the perfect combo to blitz France as England in the early part of the game. I remember reading a little strategy guide here on the forum about that particular tactic, and it worked fantastically.

Kataphraktoi, and most Byzantine units.
Sherwood Foresters, I had to enable them on Gnome's unit editor.
Well, in the VI campaign, Bonnachts. You've all been neglecting them! Using a single unit of Bonnachts, I can rout Huscarles disable skirmish, throw a volley of spears as they charge, then counter charge. combined with Gallowglasses.. amazing. Those two units helped me destroy the Saxons, Mercians, and Vikings.
In Medieval, Templar Knights. They could dismount as chivalric foot knights, and on horseback with thier swords, they were superior to the Hospitaller or Tuetonics, because of thier swords. That small, minor detail, which messes up thier charge, won me many fights against spearmen, and cavalry.
To anyone who ever beat "Cloaked_Figure" At MTW:VI, I want a rematch!
I really liked the Futuwas (I'm not sure if thats the right name) because they could pepper the enemy infantry with arrows and then go hand to hand with them...as for VI I'd have to go with either Highland Clansmen or Jomsvikings, both great infantry units.
Favorite Cavalry Unit: Spanish Jinetes
Favorite Infantry Unit: Swabian Swordsmen
