Mouse movement causes EXTREME lag/freezing up
Just as it sounds. I play shogun 2 on the campaign or battle map, and any cursor movement whatsoever causes my framerate to drop from 60 to 10.
BUT, that is with the polling rate on my mouse at 125. If I set it to either 500 or 1000, the game STOPS - I am stuck on the same frame until my mouse stops moving.
Setting the polling rate from 1000 to 125 is something I needed to do a few months ago to avoid the framerate drop problem, but now it happens even at 125 and 500/1000 causes the game to STOP completely until I stop moving the mouse. It started after a recent Shogun 2 update and then escalated with the even more recent one.
What the hell is the cause of this and how do I fix it? Such an incredibly massive pain in the ass and it makes the game unplayable.

Have you tried a different mouse?
Vanilla or a mod?

Re: Mouse movement causes EXTREME lag/freezing up
I haven't tried a different mouse yet. I have a razer deathadder. I'm going to have a cheap mouse tomorrow that I can try, if it helps, I'll update the thread.
Just vanilla Shogun 2. It is the only game I've had/have this problem.
It is just like this:
http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=1634688
http://forums.steampowered.com/forum....php?t=2490951
Both of those threads report deathadders (my mouse) as the problem, but I've also seen a thread for a different razer mouse with the same issue (trying to find it) and I've been using this mouse with Shogun 2 fine for the past year, and on other games without issue.

I wonder if Razer if having cloud trouble, again. Have you raised this issue on their site?
My Deathadder has been doing good in Medieval2.

FIXED
http://euw.leagueoflegends.com/board....php?t=1135604
stij.exe was the culprit. The first time I've ever been infected with malware/spyware/virus/trojans etc.
Here is a video showing the crap that I was dealing with. The recording doesn't even show half of the extent of it.

Thanks for the help, Ron. You kind of spurred me into checking/trying ABSOLUTELY EVERYTHING short of a full OS reinstall (which would have fixed it, at MASSIVE inconvenience) which really helped. I tried a few more google searches until I finally found that thread on the 5th page or something. I was blaming razer and steam one by one until I tried a different mouse and drivers and reinstalled steam and ran shogun 2 as an administrator etc. etc.
Task manager ended stij.exe and ALL GONE!! Now to find where it sleeps and destroy it... God damn viruses..
