Okay... Seriously. What the **** is production?

I thought it was the amount of resources you produced or something, but it tends to fluctuate a lot as the screenshots below suggest. (click to enlarge)



I went from having the highest to one of the lowest production amount in in turn. What is it exactly and I feel incredibly ignorant for asking this.

I'm not entirely sure but I always thought it was production as in how much you produce per turn. Meaning if you build a lot of buildings/recruit units/etc in a turn it goes up and if you don't build anything the next turn, it goes down. I could be wrong though.

It's how many units you produce in a turn.

Production is the amount of gold you spend training units and making buildings per turn.
