Uh, I have to post my plans here, too: Carthage
First I plan to expand my empire (Start) to the east and conquer the historically authentic coast regions -> See attached Picture
(1): To protect my regions from pirates or foreign invaders I will concentrate on establishing a naval power and controlling all naval regions on my coastline at first. Furthermore I will conquer Corsica and further develop my important african cities. By fullfilling this plans I will be nearly invulnerable in Africa. Only Egypt could be a risk, but I will try to make them my trading partner or even ally right from the start.
I won't conquer whole Sicilia, but maybe I have to defend my existing region, so in this province the main battles against Syracus will take place. My politics to Rome will be friendly and helpful: trade agreement, maybe even allying. If this isn't going to work I will use at least a little bit sweet-talk to keep them neutral as long as possible. Same goes for other great enemies.
(2): After gaining invulnerability in North Africa, I will concentrate on the spanish Peninsula. I will take over the south of Iberia and try to make the Lusitanias in the west to be my vasalls/client state, cause I don't want to control further sea regions western of Iberia(2a). If this plan does not work I will conquer Lusitania instead (2b). So my empire will spread - historically nearly correct - until the ominous river "Iber". Also I will gain control over Mallorca and the surrounding sea. Around Sardinia/Corsica I will resign to control the naval region, because Rome could get angry otherwise. After I have achieved my goal, my main empire is established, my main goals achieved. But this will take some time I guess, also I want to develop my cities very well in this game phase. I don't plan to extent any further, maybe I will hold this regions, make an trade empire and somehow gain the cultural or economic victory. I will be peaceful, but also I will prevent any other faction to get too strong and other main factions from getting extinguished. If so anyway, I will military intervene.
But besides that, there are at least 3 possible further historical trends possible. Main trends als followed:
(3a) Rome: Despite my efforts to make rome my friend, they could get too mighty or invading my lands. Then I will switch from peaceful to murderous. First of all I would take over all main mediterran sea regions and banish Rome from the sea, blocking their harbours,...
If Rome is very mighty already, I will conquer whole Iberia, so I can compete. Then I will conquer whole Sicilia and send 1-2 huge armies over the sea to south Italy (and maybe one army from Iberia over the alps to Northern Italy^^). After conquering the province Magna Graecia, plundering some northern cities of Rome and supporting other enemies of Rome (Suebis,...), I will make peace again. Like Hannibal I have no intention to destroy Rome, only keep them on a handable level.
(3b) Numidia / Southern Africa: I'm going to avoid to conquer whole North Africa, because I like some competition and historically accurate borders. But if - at any time in my campaign - the southern factions will get too cocky (some conflicts are okay, would be a welcome relief), I will reserve to conquer them or making them my client states.
(3c) Egypt: If I fail to keep Egypt my friend I will take the whole Lybian province from them, sea region included. To do so, I maybe have to conquer the province Phazania, too. Furthermore I will take over all sea regions in their territory and let them bleed out. Then hopefully they will be in favour of making peace. If not, I'm plundering in their regions until they are ready. Again I have no intention to annihilate the Egypt faction.
I think I have covered for all likely situations...
North: Iberian tribes and Rome
South: African tribes
East: Egypt
This should be all potential enemies. Only the greek states could also play a role, but since I'm about to control the mediterran sea, they shouldn't be worth an own statement. But well...this is all hypothetical, things can turn out quite different. But in the worst case scenario I will conquer all regions as explained in 3a+b+c.This should be enough to deal with any kind of enemy!
Yeah, well...I'm already very excited for the campaign. Maybe I also make a diary about it.![]()
