    Default Very interesting....

I was looking at the screenshots of MTW2 the other day, inlcuding the ones of the missions assigned not only by the Pope, but an interesting body called the Council of Nobles. Because mainly of feudalism, the Middle Ages were a time when much of the power was centered in the hands of noblemen. Now, as well as giving advice and assigning missions, what if the nobles began to become treacherous if the King continually ignored their advice? Baronial revolts were frequent, from England to Sicily, and it would be very good to civil war between the King and his lords, especially in a very decentralised state such as the Holy Roman Empire, where the Emperor had to endlessly fight the different magnates within the empire to extend his power and influence.

Well MTW had this, although not exaclty as you described, but there was still the loyalty trait.
Under the patronage of Rhah and brother of eventhorizen.

Yes I know, with the loyalty attached to the King's influence and all that. But it would nice to have a Council which told you to do something, or else.

In the last preview about missions it was revealed that the council of nobles assign you missions that you can decide to follow or not.

It also said that the nobles tend to assign missions that will bennefit them more than you in some cases.....

Thus implying that the nobles can revolt if you **** them off too much or if they reckon they can win a civil war.

Maybe this Council will give advice on who to attack, how happy the populace is, the tax information, and whether they are likely to revolt, so you could send in an army or priest to boost your religion. If anything, you will see that your governor sucks and send him onto a Titantic cruise.
