I say go for either Pontus or Parthia. Great factions. Good starting locations and very nice unit roster. Parthia, it will be very easy for you to pick the Seleucid Empire apart or expand north. Pontus on the other hand can also expand quite easily in Asia Minor because there are a lot of neutral provinces around. after that you can either expand north, east or west. Mind you, I never really liked Armenia and I may just be biased.
^Ugh boring much...
Go Armenia, richer cultural-history than both of the others and some real awesome units like the medieval styled Nakharar chain mail units. You're pretty much sitting in the middle of Seluecid Empire, Parthia and Pontus.
We Came, We Saw, We Ran Away!
Ehh, nopeThe persian culture is the oldest own and in my opinionen the richest culture in human history. New discoveries are dated from 8000 B.C. that's quite old
If you start with Parthia you can handle your campaign very easily if you play the battles on your own. I choosed Parthia cause they're my ancestors![]()
Oho two biased opinions.
I'm thinking either Armenia or Parthia. Pontus' starting position doesn't altogether please me.![]()
start all of them.... like one day for Pontus one day for Armenia one day for Parthia...and 3 days for Armenia after that. Pontus has a colorful selection of units. Armenia got hardy mountain units and Nakharars which will kick anyone's butt. And Parthia...uhh Horses and lots of it
I imagine Armenia would be the most fun, Parthia seems too easy. I suppose Pontus would be okay too.
If you're in to battles, go for Armenia. I played with them many times and I had battles on every front. Will definitely be a challenge. If you like to build with almost no wars unless you initiate it then the Parthians are your faction. Building, location, and a few regions to take over if that suits you then Pontus. I personally hate Parthia and Pontus for irrational personal reasons, but whatever suits yours play style.
Well in all instances you should prepare your self for at least one diastorus encounter with elephants
Some subconcious dislikes for Persians? I kid I kid, I'm not sure about more battles I think Pontus and Armenia break even being in the same location and pretty much same enemies and Pontus has to fight the GCS...although admitedly they do let you walk all over them around the black sea area. Economically Armenia is stronger due to presences of mines everywheres. Pontus isn't too shabby in this field too and having an immediate port city allows form much trade, although as Armenia you can just take those ports of course vice versa is true. Culturally...eh I made a small stink of Pontus being too Greek and not enough Persian influence. Armenia is definetely fine in this regard. Militarily Pontus is beautiful while it may not have the Nakharars Pontus's military is sooo....colorful you have Galatians, Cappidocian Cavalry, Scythed Chariots, Light Chariots, Greek Pikemen,Persian Spahbaras, and Scythian Archers. Armenia's Military on the other hand is pretty damn powerful with the Nakharar units being one of the best units in the game and their Archers are no slouches either. I have nothing to say on Parthia because I haven't played a campaign as them yet. Although it seems it's mostly horse archers running around through the backside of the Seleucid empire all day long.
LOLOL maybe a little dislike for Persians. Nah, its just that they always seem to be the most annoying factions for me that send stack after stack at me. Any who, Parthia is pretty good with their maneuverability and ranged attacks. A Greek army is definitely stronger with hand to hand combat, but between missile strikes and cav charges, they're pretty damn awesome on the field (if you use them, not the AI lol.) I played quite a lot with the Armenians and after a few turns either the Seleucids attack you or Pontus....sometimes both. Pontus does have a very fun range of troop selection and has a great start location, but just couldn't get in to them; however, the their charriots are brilliant. I actually want to see how well they stack against the Armored elephants.
I guess I'll give Armenia a go first. I like the idea of starting out surrounded by enemies.![]()
I'd go Parthia just because of the ancient world tanks that were the elephants.
I love Armenia's family member portraits. They look royal and mean.
Armenia was improved a lot...
Armenia for sure
go for cimbri XD
I restarted my 1-turn Armenia campaign after reinstalling to 2.6 and I'm loving it. I have an unhealthy fixation on their cataphract archers.
