    Chapter 21

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
I was writing this chapter a few weeks ago, and it was almost finished when I accidentally exited my web browser (I'm so smart -_-). I tried to write it the same way, but I couldn't remember the details that I never took screenshots of. I deemed that the chapter wouldn't be the same, so I'll try to recap the important events before we move on.

First, the Balrog destroyed the Isengard invasion army under the command of the Uruk-Hai king. We became the largest faction, and the Orcs of Gundabad asked us to help them with the drums of the deep (fat chance). Isengard besieged Isengard (huh?) while the Balrog stood about 2 meters away. In the following battle, there was a blizzard so intense it was nearly impossible to see. We tested out our new catapults, which warmed the enemy up very quickly. Chieftain Lagrat destroyed an invading Gundabad army foolish enough to step near Moria. Throught this all, Zagbug and Gazmog took over Framsburg, (renamed to Gazmoburg) Gundabad, and Litash. They also killed the faction leader and heir of Gundabad. Now Zagbug is staying up North and Gazmog is preparing to move south.

Sorry again for ruining a chapter

Zagbug returns from building a watchtower back to the mountain pass where he and his troops will be staying while they guard our Northern border. Gazmog plans to move south soon. A disease breaks out in Duneard, but hopefully that will remain contained. A Mordor army moves close to Moria with its Rhun allies too far behind to help. Chieftain Lagrat moves out to strike.

    13th Battle for Moria

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The battle begins near a mountain, on very rugged terrain. the enemy rests on top of the peak of one hill,d we stand on another.

We start marching to a hill closer to the enemy, and they cautiously reform a bit to face us. That's too safe for our liking!

    Get moving, you lazy scumbags!

Our wargs' flank attack, mixed with our troops finally forming up on the hill opposite the enemy, causes them to engage. A light rain chills the battlefield. Our troops stand resilient in the face of giant flaming rocks.

The enemy's aim with the catapults turns out be very good (who knew trolls would be good at that sort of thing?) so we decide to charge our vast herd of infantry downhill. Their infantry are inferior, disorganized, and outnumbered. Still, some of their troops are fierce, and Chieftain Lagrat himself charges into the fray.

Our wargs attempt a few charges on the enemy flank, but a unit of Morannon guard make sure they can't stay around for long. Our trolls rip through the enemy lines, and head straight for the enemy catapults.

    Troll-on-Troll action, place bets!

Most of the enemy infantry spontaneously routs (About time people start running from the sight of us.) and our wargs eradicate the pathetic enemy archers. Soon only the enemy general and his bodyguard remain. We make sure to destroy him, for without him the invading army will be no more.

    Success!

500 casualties for one invading army. Not bad, but retraining is in order.

Chieftain Lagrat returns through the doors of Moria, and Gazmog begins his march South. As the invasion loses momentum and Chieftain Lagrat shows no signs of failing, we take a look at our future plans. We have 6 armies currently ready for combat (without deficit spending too!) 1, Zagbug's, has to guard the North. 2 Have to stay down south to protect Duneard and Isengard. Chieftain Lagrat has to defend Moria, for the time being. That leaves 2 currently available for any purpose, led by Gazmog and Naglur. Before the invasion was called, our plan was to invade Mirkwood and destroy the Elves once and for all. We can still do that with our 2 armies. Once the invasion is over, we can send in a 3rd army, (our best army, for that matter). Chieftain Lagrat will no doubt be keen to destroy the Elves like he did decades ago.

A scout sent ahead reveals that Mordor has taken over almost all of Mirkwood Forest, with the exception of Thranduil's halls in the northernmost section. This means that the nasty pointy-ears have only the outlying settlements in the mountains and near the Anduin. This is excellent news. We can pick off the isolated Silvan settlements one by one, and when the invasion is over, Chieftain Lagrat can lead the charge into Thranduil's Halls! So it's decided. Naglur and Gazmog head for Lagrat. Our own invasion is about to begin.

But back to the present. A gundabad army of around 1,500 orcs besieges Moria, but retreats when we sally out. this army is led by their chieftain, so we pursue.

    14th battle for Moria

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The battlefield is rugged but straightforward, much like our plan. We outnumber them by a great deal, so our infantry march forward at a run. Our wargs wrap around the left flank while our trolls guard the right. The enemy rushes to meet us.

The only cavalry the enemy has is around 30 Rhudaur traitors. They attempt to charge our wargs, and obviously are destroyed.

Maybe you should rethink your tactics...

The infantry fight begins, and our wargs do a lot of damage from behind. Our trolls smash into the left side of the enemy hillmen mercenaries, sending them flying.

So far our flight-travel research hasn't gotten much farther than this...

Next the chieftain of Gundabad is killed by some nonchalant-looking halberdiers.

No results screen, but we pretty much destroyed their army completely.

Chieftain Lagrat moves back to Moria, and the Balrog moves to the bridge near Isengard, hoping to head off any invading armies going that way, and smashing them to pieces with catapults while they're on the bridge. Unfortunately none of them seem to want to go that way, and instead head around North to go to the back entrance of Moria. On a luckier note, Goblin Town now has stone walls, allowing to train heavy infantry and finally be useful. the last Mordor invasion army steps near Moria without support, a sure sign of a disease called stupidity. Indeed, our enemies are afflicted with it often.

Time to show Sauron just how much power he really has.

    15th Battle for Moria

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The battlefield is an extremely forested area, on the slopes of a nearby mountain. Rain makes the ground muddy and soft. Our enemies seem content to hide in the trees, leaving us to be real orcs. Sounds about the usual.

Ready or not, here we come!

We move closer, and the enemy still doesn't react. Our wargs and trolls move on the flanks, and the enemy doesn't react. We move closer. They remain brain-dead.

Are they... trying to hide? We can see them right there.

    Forget it, charge!

Our troops storm the forest, met with strong resistance by the crude halberds and spears of Mordor orcs. As usual, they come with mostly orc band and raiders, with a small core of elite Uruks. They are fierce, but our infantry force is vast and armed to the teeth with cruel blades and halberds. Our trolls do their thing, while our wargs do their thing even better than usual.

    Tear them to pieces!

The bands and raiders rout quickly enough, but the Uruks slow us down. Eventually we find their general and surround him. Meanwhile, Chieftain Lagrat's bodyguard fight off 2 enemy trolls who barreled through our lines, intent on killing our great chieftain.

These trolls are more stupid than the usual lot, if they think they can take on Chieftain Lagrat! He eats trolls for breakfast, and then has dragons for lunch!

The enemy general falls victim to the highest cause of death in Sauron-supporting kingdoms. Warg lunch.

A quick and easy victory, knocking Mordor out of the invasion.

It's about time! Maybe now Sauron will leave us alone.

Unfortunately, we don't have much time to celebrate, because an Uruk-Hai army comes out of nowhere and besieges Isengard.

    Seems easy enough.

    Battle for Isengard

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The battlefield is the perfect place for our new catapults. 2 hills opposite each other with lower ground in between. Unfortunately the enemy has artillery of their own. The infantry take the worst of it as the rock-flinging games begin.

Our engineers seem to be better shots than the enemy's, so their infantry march towards us. Some enemy wargs try and take on the balrog. Our spies are still looking into how stupidity runs so rampant in our enemies.

    ... good luck with that.

The enemy troops try and charge our lines, but their advance is slowed by the confusion and terror caused by flaming catapult rocks. They rout soon after charging.

Too many casualties, but at least they were destroyed.

The balrog moves back to his favorite bridge, while Gazmog and Naglur near the rendezvous point. Then, Moria is besieged for the first time in the 2nd Morian War, by the Haradrim. They're the most dangerous due to their mumakil and excellent cavalry.

Normally Chieftain Lagrat would sally out alone and be done with it, but the Haradrim are too dangerous. Naglur is sent south to tip the odds in our favor, by a margin of around 2,000 troops.

    Ehh... Deja Vu?

    Deja Vu battle for Isengard

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Yes, Definitely Deja Vu, it's the exact same battlefield.

The battle begins essentially the same way as well, with the artillery smashing each other to pieces. Thankfully they have fewer artillery than us this time. The enemy infantry also charge much faster.

Our wargs try and deal with some enemy snaga, but they are much more resilient this time around, and more numerous. That is, until their leader is eaten.

    omnomnomnom

The rest of the battle is rather tedious, mopping up units that rout and return and rout again. The final results end up like this.

    Excellent.

Naglur is about to reach Moria when the Haradrim make their move.

This is not good at all. I don't look forward to fighting those mumakil.

    16th Battle for Moria

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Chieftain Lagrat begins the battle with a rousing speech mostly involving choice words about the enemy and their lineage.

    "Arseweasels!"

The enemy prepare their battering ram while we muster behind the gate. Our plan is rather simple. In close quarters, their archers and horses should be at a disadvantage to infantry, of which we have thousands. The mumakil are the wild card.

I'm pretty sure if our troops got any more packed together they would turn into a black hole. With no windows or arrow-slits to speak of, our men can only wait while the creaking ram slowly rolls forward.

    So much for Dwarven security.

The enemy troops rush in, and it fares much worse than I'd hoped. We take casualties faster than they do, until they have a 10% advantage over us, or more.

I didn't count on them shooting arrows through the gate...

I'd intended to save the trolls for later, but they were needed now.

    Kill em!

You know, you'd think that the gate would be too small for oliphaunts...

    Right?

    But somehow they squeeze through...

The battle goes increasingly worse for us. At the moment defeat seems certain, our last troll knocks off the haradrim general!

All of their elites stand their ground, but most of their troops flee.

Our troops are down to less than half their levels, and their elite troops are extremely resilient.

The troops fighting us rout, and around 1,000 Haradrim troops remain absolutely still. We retreat back into Moria and wait for them to come to us.

    But the attack never comes...

Well, we won, and their general is dead. But Moria is doomed if another army attacks. The Silvan invasion will have to wait, because Naglur's troops will have to move into Moria.

Once this invasion is over, Sauron will pay!

ahh good to see you keep it up my friend

a pity the battle in Moria, it would have been good to have a couple of artillery units to smash them at the gate, take this into account for the future defence of Moria

    looking forrward for the rest!

    Chapter 22

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
We'd hoped to invade Mirkwood by now, but unfortunately our army stationed in Moria was nearly destroyed in the last battle. Naglur and his army are sent to replace the garrison. They push some pathetic haradrim forces out of the way and enter the mountain. Some orcs are still trying to figure out how to push the oliphaunt bodies into the chasm. Once the replacement is complete, Naglur and his few remaining troops move back into the Stumpy Forest (formerly known as Lothlorien) to go back to full strength.

There are 4 invading armies left (that we know of.) One full-strength Rhun army, which consists of their clansmen, tribesmen, and other assorted units of poor quality. There is one invading Isengard army which is about half-strength and is mostly orc looter mercenaries. There are two Dunlander armies who actually have fairly high quality units, but they are both half strength and they are far apart. One steps too close to Moria just now.

    17th Battle for Moria
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The battlefield is full of tiny little hills, making it a bumpy affair. Rain pours out of the sky, and water falls in funny patterns against the absurdly jagged goblin armor.

Thankfully we outnumber the enemy by a great deal, and so the logical plan is quite easy to conceive. Charge with everything!

    Ring the dinner bell!

A few Dunlander units rout upon impact, and the rest soon follow. A small pocket of "noble" swordsmen hold out for a few seconds longer. The battle is easily won, and that brings the invading army count down to 3.

Our troops move back into Moria and Naglur moves back into the Stumpy forest. Unfortunately, Dale decides to throw a wrench in the system yet again.

Nobody's even heard of you! Go away!

At first we hesitate, but our scout reports that the enemy army is composed mostly of generals and their archer bodyguards. In fact, they have only one dedicated melee unit!

Right, lets get this over with before lunch.

    Battle for Ratlag

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Of course the cowardly bowmen set up position on the opposite side of the field from us.

Get ready to go on a hike, men...

Most of their troops hide in a small forest while our wargs have a picnic until our infantry finally arrive.

The heavy infantry decide they've done enough walking, and want to do some running. They burst through the trees to cot down those pesky elf-imitators!

The enemy isn't prepared for melee combat on this scale, and disperse fairly easily. Their generals fall one by one until victory is ours.

The Dalish army, while still alive, is pathetically weakened and retreats back across the river. Naglur returns to Stumpy Forest, planning to finish reconstruction of his army. Back near Moria, Chieftain Lagrat prepares to knock the Uruk-Hai out of the invasion once and for all.

    18th Battle for Moria

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The enemy refuse to face our superior numbers on even terms, and retreat up a cliff. What scumbags.

Strangely, one of their units decides to take the long way up the hill, which will lead them within our troops' personal space. For that, they must die painfully. Meanwhile, our wargs run ahead and try to catch the enemy in the back before they make it too far uphill.

It turns out the only troops who made it to the top of the cliff were pathetic archers, and so their infantry is destroyed. The enemy general and his bodyguard bum-rush our entire force, perhaps attempting to rescue the troops that earlier went on a suicide mission?

It's a bit late, there, Gorhur.

Once he's dealt with we run down the enemy archers and victory is ours.

Two armies down, two to go.

Naglur's army finishes replenishment and so he begins to head North once again. The Balrog stands vigil over Isengard, sitting on the bridge. A Dunlander army and a Rhun army are almost close enough to fight Chieftain Lagrat together.

Of course, 'almost' only counts in horseshoes and flaming catapult rocks.

    19th Battle for Moria

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Hmm. Looks familiar.

UNLIKE last time however, the Dunlanders are smart and rush our army before it's fully prepared. Our wargs are caught forming, and our troops barely form lines before they are beset by axes and spears.

Lucky for us, their general is cut down just when everyone started to warm up. Our troops surround them and it's over before lunch. Coincidentally, lunch will now be in the form of a picnic outside the back gate of Moria, with free food, courtesy of the royal court of Dunland!

With the Dunlanders taken care of, we now have only the cloth-clad soldiers of Rhun. Sounds easy.

The enemy general, apart from having a ridiculous name, is also the heir to the lands of Rhun, and is an inspiring leader. But as Chieftain Lagrat says, the bigger they are the harder their troops will cry when they die.

Chieftain Lagrat is a little strange.

    20th Battle for Moria

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
Well, let's get this over with, right men?

... Of course. Nothing can ever be easy.

... or maybe it can! Good on you, Lord Ambakawuzzit, good on you!

While the enemy sends half their force to slow us down, or scout us, or probe us with alien tools or whatever, we send the wargs ahead, to do what they do best!

    omnomnomnom!

Pretty soon our forces reach the bottom slopes of the hill, and the whole enemy horde spills forth down the path.

Behind enemy lines, our wargs spot the battle raging. The riders grin to each other, and the wargs bare their teeth. They prepare to charge, when Lord Ambanator and his guard clad in gold appear over a hill and crashes into them!

We send some infantry to help, and lord Ambasaurus-Rex is soon killed.

This sends all of his troops into a rout. We let them flee, as they will disband without a general.

    Suck it, Sauron.

Alright. Now we can get this Silvan invasion started. Next time the fatty eye calls an invasion on us, we'll end him once and for all.

    Chapter 23

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
With the invasion defeated yet again, We can now get this silvan invasion started. Chieftain Lagrat leaves a garrison in Moria and marches north to meet up with Gazmog and Naglur. Not many orcs are still around from the Lothlorien Campaigns. Chieftain Lagrat remembers. It is strange, but also refreshing, after so many wars with Sauron and his puppets, to return to our old enemies. It's time to leave the mountains, cross the river, and turn Mirkwood into a place of evil again. Now, we will forge an empire befitting of our strength.

Damn it, Isengard, I thought you'd give it a rest, at least for a little while!

Nothing will delay Chieftain Lagrat, so instead, we allow the Uruk-Hai to take Limlight Fort. Let them think they've won. In reality, we will create a new Southern army from Moria and the Stumpy Forest. We will move back south and retake the fort.

    Ahh, just in time.

Chieftain Lagrat reaches the rendezvous point. 10,000 orcs are now amassed and preparing to cross the river. Chieftain Lagrat takes on the best title ever: Lord of Terror.

At this time, after many years of doing nothing but sitting around, the elves think that NOW, when we are the most powerful faction in existence, when the Lord of Terror and his army of 10,000 are sitting nearby, is the best time to cross the river.

Aradan the Mad leads his troops like a true madman.

    1st Battle for Mirkwood

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The battlefield is very simple. Good. There's no point waiting around to be shot, so the infantry immediately charges. The wargs wrap around the right side. Our reinforcements close in from the left and right flank.

They pathetically try and save themselves with their bows. That will not help them anymore.

After destroying a dozen or so elven horsearchers, our wargs turn around. They've been getting pretty fat lately, so they could use an elven diet.

Yes! The first elf general to be eaten!

Annoyingly, these elves with their silly "morals" and "honor" are all fighting to the last. My troops divide into groups of hundreds only to fight dozens...

    Seriously, what?

    Finally...

Now that he's finished, we can cross the river.

Excellent. the Elves will now tremble at our coming!

At the same time, Radnag and his new army besiege Limlight Fort. They are immediately ambushed by a huge Isengard army that came from nowhere!

Do your worst, pathetic snaga. We can pull this off.

    Battle for Limlight Fort

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

The enemy has us surrounded. The trick is to destroy the first army before the 2nd army can reach us. A charge is called immediately. While our infantry run forward, our wargs harass the enemy by smashing their left flank.

The inexperienced wargs take some casualties and pull back. While they do that, our infantry engage the enemy.

They seem to have more men than us. Good thing they're just throwing snaga at the problem.

Who do they send to fight our vicious 300 wargs? Why, their general of course! Go get em, lads!

Oh my, the shame, how could that plan fail?!?

the 1st army's infantry buckles and retreats at the same time the 2nd arm reaches us.

Our wargs run down a few remnants from the first army and then swing around our left flank. There's an all-you-can-eat snaga buffet back at the front lines.

After that the battle becomes REALLY messy.

It seems they held a reserve wave in the back. This caught us off guard, and we took more casualties than we should've.

Heavy losses, but we won, and the fort is ours!

Limlight fort is occupied, and Isengard seems cowed into submission, for a little while at least. Nothing very eventful happens, so Chieftain Lagrat takes the time to look at some military reports.

Mordor is the strongest faction again. But there is better news. Our 2 most prominent enemies, the Uruk-Hai and the Elves, are both weaker than us and getting weaker. Let's hope that trend continues.

DAMN IT, Isengard, will you EVER give up?

And they actually have some quality units.

short, and not very sweet either, but lots of important stuff happens

    Chapter 24

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

    Where were we.... oh right

    Balrog, smash!

    Battle for Isengard

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:
The battlefield is perfect for our catapults, which we will use to full effect.

    See example one

After many volleys of flaming rocks, the enemy thinks to themselves, why not move?

This time, they aren't solely comprised of snaga stalkers and a few ragtag Uruk-Hai. They have some real, armored, infantry. They also have wargs.

    But we have balrogs!

As soon as their infantry engages ours, our wargs move out. They first destroy a unit of berserkers, and then some raiders. Finally, they're able to smash into the backs of the enemy infantry. Our catapults divert all fire towards the enemy general, and I must admit, he handles it well.

Ha. Aha. Ha Ha. Kill them all.

    fffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffffff

    R.I.P. The Balrog.

Isengard will pay. I think we have let them live for long enough. We shall now attack them until they are no more. First Radnag's new army will move from Limlight Fort and take Fangorn. He will meet up with Lord Shagdush at Isengard, and take the Uruk-Hai settlements in the formerly-rohan plains. Then, they will meet up with the 3rd army at Duneard, and we will finish the Uruk-Hai off.

At least we have some good news here. Beorn's Halls surrendered without a fight. The town is renamed to Beorn's Grave.

And we're the strongest faction again. The balrog would be proud. Maybe. More likely he'd roar and kill some prisoners. Bless him.

    Haha. No.

    Haha. .

THE LAST ONE IS BARELY OVER!?!?!?!

Screw it. Rhosgobel just surrendered without a fight. Screw the elves, screw Isengard. We have 3 armies ready to go anywhere we want. Let's go give Sauron a visit.

I'm afraid we have now come to the end.

    Chapter 25

Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

After 30 years of fighting Sauron and his puppets, Chieftain Lagrat can only say that he's tired. Tired of crushing 1000's of idiotic drones willing to fight the Lord of Terror for a giant flaming eye. A final invasion was called, at the same time a Tol Acharn was called upon Isengard. Enemy armies, orcs, men, elves, dwarves, flood into our lands. We've been pushed back to the mountains.

And yet, between the tens of thousands of all those idiots, they still can't work up the guts to lay a finger on Moria. And If we know anything, it's that as long as we hold Moria, we can come back from anything.

So there's only one thing left to do.

    Knock knock!

    Now die!

And burn in whatever hell you spawned from.

So now we've been pushed back to the mountains. Our gold coffers are tanking. Enemy's are rampant throughout our lands. Our chieftain and the army are trapped inside Mordor. And Sauron's death hasn't seemed to slow anyone down. Everything is going wrong.

Sure sounds familiar! I think Chieftain Lagrat will take a small picnic in the sunny beaches of Mordor before riding to the rescue again. No doubt he'll crush everyone in his way, but to write about that would just be more of the same.

    This story is over.

It's been a pleasure guys. I know this ending may be disappointing, but in the end, it was always going to be like this. To drag it out would just be pointless. We got our revenge on Sauron, he's burning in hell, and that's all I wanted. If you want, I'll upload the save file right now, so you can finish the war your own way.

Sad that it's over, but it was excellent while it lasted. Do you suppose you'll ever do another one of these in the future?
