Downloaded MTW Gold off of Amazon. Running Windows 7.

Hi there,From what I've read I'm probably making a number of errors, but I downloaded MTW Gold off of Amazon so it's a digital download and when I go to start Stainless Steel it asks me to insert CD 1, except I don't have one. If this is a bonehead question I do apologize and I hope someone can point me in the right direction.Again digital download and I'm using Windows 7. Thanks in advance! I'm excited to play Stainless Steel!

If you find SS Set Up in MTW2/MODS Folder, select right click and Run as Admin, should be the fix

Hey thanks for responding Joe. That just took me to the submod folder, when I hit save and exit it gave me the same CD disc 1 error.

When you installed did you disable the UAC?

Is MTW2 and SS in same drive?

Id did not disable UAC, yes they are on the same drive. Do I need to reinstall? If so tell me I don't need to reinstall MTW2! O_O

All you need to do is delete SS, clean up, registry clean, then re-install with UAC DISABLED, I always install 2 , don't seem to have any probs

Can you tell me the steps to do what you are saying. I'm not nearly the wizards that many around here are. I'm smart and a quick learner, just not super computer knowledgeable. Thanks in advance!!!

Lets not worry about the registry Clean, but do following:

1. Delete SS folder from MTW2/MODS/
2. Click MS Logo, bottom left, in 'Search' field, key Disc Cleanup
3. Click MS Logo, bottok left, in 'search' feild, key User Access Control, pull slide bar down to bottom
4. Restart laptop/pc
5. Select SS Exe File, right click, Run as Admin, let it install, then do it again
6. Do 3, but move slide bar up to enable User Access Control

If you want to registry clean, go to google, key CCleaner, d/l from File Hippo, free software, used it years, very reliable

I did all of those and no luck. Also this time around the desktop icon has a messed up pic instead of the nice picture it had last time I downloaded. I'm still getting the insert disk 1 message.

Just wanted to thank you for your help. It's working now. I think it was due to not have SS6.3.exe and all the .bin files in the same folder. I accidently killed my save games somehow so I just decided to reinstall MTW2 and then try everything from scratch with UAC off, always using Run as Admin and moving those files all into the same folder. Magically it worked! So yay!!! Once I get used to it I will have to figure out how to play this online with folks on the forum! :-D
