    Default Help Wanted(RTRPE 1.6)!

    I have a problem.

I downloaded the BI patch after I installed RTW(original) and BI(original too) and installed th patch.

Then I downloaded RTRPE1.6 and installed it.

When I try to play, it says that I should insert the correct DVD.

What should I do? the BI is allready in!

i think there are some threads around reporting your problem - try to search around.

What my memory tells me from those threads is that your problem only occurs with DVD version, which has a different RTW-BI.exe file.

RTRPR overwrites (by mistake, I think it will be corrected in 1.7) that file.

If you have a backup (YOU SHOULD!! - to avoid problems like this) of the clean RTW directories just copy the RTW-BI.exe file (I think the file is called like this... or something very similar... theres only two .exe files in the "Rome Total War" dir: one ending with "...-BI.exe" and the other without the "-BI". Replace those from the backup.

Now if you dont have a backup, you might have a problem to solve that withou reinstalling RTW again... Im not sure if those files can be posed without that being a copyright breach.

Anyway, there are some guys from CA around in the forum - maybe thay pop an answer to that.
Oe maybe its already on those threads I said... cant remember.

What you'll want to do is insert your DVD into the drive and open it. Copy across the RomeTW.exe file to your installation directory and it should work.

Uhh.. is the Rome shortcut pointing towards rtw.exe or bi.exe? It needs to be pointing at bi.exe and have "-mod:" at the end of the shortcut outside the quotes. So the target needs to look like this:

    "C:\Program Files\Activision\Rome - Total War\RomeTW-BI.exe" -show_err -mod:

Otherwise just pop in the RTW Disc 1

I think your problem is this:
if you have Rome Total War Gold Edition on a single DVD you will probably get a message like "wrong CD" or something like that when you will start the game. That is becouse the "RomeTW.exe" file that comes with RTRPE is from a CD version of RTW and it is not compatible with your DVD version. What you have to do is copy the original "RomeTW.exe" from the folder where you have saved/backup your game and then overwrite the one from the folder where you have the game(RTW) + RTRPE. You can avoid this from the start by deleting the "RomeTW.exe" file from the RTRPE folder prior to the copying and pasting phase.
The same problem as above was reported by the owners of the "Total War™: Eras". So you should proceed as above.
it from this guide(at the end of it):

Also it doesn't have to be directed to the BI.exe it will still run correctly on the RTW.exe
