I'm very impressed by the greek basketball team spirit - they played a truly perfect game, they played it like having ancient greek war spirit cause their defense was just awesome truly greek-style !!!

The greek team has used a phalanx system....everybody worked as a team than a single entity...the USA used a barbarian formation..everyone for its own...

I play basketball myself in greek playcourts , mostly as a center (Well I am not that tall, only 1.92m, but push a lot and take rodman rebounds...what a player).
From my personal experience, the USA team played as I have played against some spoiled, egomaniac players who want always the ball to shoot and take the fame. These kind of players are plain idiots and I am glad that Greece showed the way of how this game is meant to play.
Or else we could be glad to hire and train some chimps to jump, dunk and think ...not.

I was at the championships in 2000 in Athens and enjoyed it a lot - when the US sent the team of college and non-nba players. If someone beat the US I'm glad it was Greece though.

But we haven't much success besides Euro '04. On the other hand the Greek national basketball team is much more successfull on the international stage and more consistant.

In football we won the Euro but failed to qualify for the world cup.
In basketball we won the Euro and we are in the world cup final.
