    Default Kingdoms installation trouble

Hi. First of all, I'd like to say that I'm sorry if this problem has been answered before. I'm brand new to this site. Secondly, I'm almost totally useless with computers.

I've got a new computer recently as my old one died on me. It's windows 8. I could install medieval vanilla without any problems but when I try to install kingdoms it comes up with "cannot determine the installed game language for medieval II total war: kingdoms."
    Please help.

And while we're at it, the sound won't play on the vanilla version.

^Actually never mind about the sound.

It's all related. Your first post has been answred a few times already but here is the list.

    1. Log in as Administrator. You don't, nothing else matters.
    2. Disable the UAC. http://www.mydigitallife.info/how-to...-in-windows-7/ It's the same for Win 8. This old XP game will love you for it. Being Administrator means nothing to this.
    3. Take onwership of C: drive. http://windows7themes.net/take-owner...le-how-to.html Very important. Being Administrator means nothing to this.
    4. Install the game anyplace but C:\Program Files (x86) including Steam. Windows idea of security for this is borked otherwise.

Sound sound like drivers. Post your dxdiag. http://shoguntotalwar.yuku.com/topic...-X-Diagnostics

That dxdiag thing doesn't have a tutorial for windows 8. Is it the same as for vista?

    1. click Start,
    2. in the box above it, type dxdiag <enter>,
    3. when the box comes up, click the 64bit button,
    4. click the save all info button,
    5. save to desktop,
6, and attach it to your next post.

Really, thanks for trying to help, but the sound problem was due to the fact the computer doesn't have any speakers, which I am amending right now.

I search for dxdiag and I get a bunch of results but no e of them say 64bit. I searched in "computer" because there isn't a proper start button in windows 8 is there?

    It will be dxdiag.txt.

It doesn't come up. I get a bunch of .exe.mui files, some .dll.mui files and some .dll files.

Did you click the two in the first pic and did you save as in the second pic?

If so and is not on your desktop, do the routine, again.
