    Default Random crashyness.

    Okay, first the required info:

    - OS = Windows 7 ( 64 bit )

    - RTW Version = 1.5 ( as required )

    - Steam? = NO

    - Insteal path = E/Games/Activision/Roma Surrectum 2

    - Launcher option = Regular RTW without Alx or BI. Playing Rome

    - Error Msg = A problem has caused the program to stop working correctly. Windows will close the program and notify if solution is available. Click on '' close program ''...
Basically it happens at random. But mostly in battles. It's random by that regard. It can crash either at the zoom in phase, just before the general's speech. It can crash right after the battle is over, or at times, as I've found, when zoomed in on certain troops. I first thought that having HD Units turned on might be messing with it ( even though I play Shogun 2 on high settings ). But even that didn't fix it. What boggles the mind even more, is that I formatted my computer about 30 odd hours ago so it's clean as a whistle. All my drivers are up to date and everything else seems to work save RS2. Any ideas? I'm desperate here..

PS: I've tried reinstalling it fully ( including RTW ), 4 times so far. Always the same result...

    Nice picture,

Do you have unit shaders turned on? What kind of gpu/cpu do you have? Do you have a lot of programs running in the backround? What Anti-virus do you have?

One thing that could cause a ctd, In your preference txt file you should enable "unit Shaders".

Also, read through this for more info on how to limit CTD's http://www.twcenter.net/forums/showt...RS2-experience

Will do. Thanks for the shaders suggestion though Hoc. Hopefully that has fixed the battle problem I've been having.

Okay. I tried the Unit Shaders and forced a small battle. It worked quite alright but then when I tried to save the game right after it, it crashed with the same msg as before. Also, it now crashes each time I try to load my game back.

Hmm, very strange. Always enable unit shaders because with out them 100% of the time you will get a CTD.

Read through the link i gave you, maybe the answer you are looking for is in there.

Oh crud forgot to say! Each time I do load a game, and try to activate the script ( click on a town, wait for advisor to pop up then click Show Me How button ), the button is grayed out and I can't click it. Has the script been changed so it's always active or is that an issue only I'm having?

No the script does not automatically start, you need to start it manually by clicking the show me how button everytime you load the game. You need to exit out of the game before loading a save. To check to see if the script is running, hit the ~ key and look for Add_money 1 in the command console.

Right I'm a bit confused at the first part of your reply. I get it that i need to hit the '' Show me how button '' every time, as stated above. But the command console is not opening up in the main menu of the game ( if that's where you meant that I should check for it. )

I feel like i'm talking to myself because of the pic

What i mean is, if your playing the game and you decide to reload a save, you must either restart Rome Total War or hit escape and click the ? button. This deactivates the script so that you can load a game. Once you load the game you must restart the script.
Spoiler Alert, click show to read:

To check if the script did get activated open the command console after clicking the show me how button to check for this.

I'm afraid that if you haven't been activating the script every time you play then your current campaigns are corrupted.

Edit: if the advisor "show me how button" is greyed out just click on the portrait and keep an eye on your treasury to see if it goes up by 1. Sorry i feel like i'm making it sound more complicated than it is.

I am the other half of your split personality!

Well it was still grayed out, but the '' click the portrait '' worked since I got 1 coin extra. Thanks for the detail discription of how to do it! I'm not as savvy with these things as I'd like to be. ^^

And yeah, I'll keep trying the campaign for a bit, if not, I'll just restart it to make sure I always keep the script up. Just out of curiosity, what does that script add?
