Problem with RTR Gold

Hi Guys,

I got a problem with RTR 6.0 Gold

i looked at this hp:

Now i followed the Description of the Downloading and Installing part.
So i uninstalled the whole RTW. After that i deleted the rest of the folder Acitivision and cleaned so everything on my harddisk.

Now i installed RTW again (from Disc). Then i downloaded and installed the Patch for RTW v1.2
After Downloading of RTR 6.0 Gold + Music addon (incl. installing) i started RTW (maybe i should start with another exe?)
I never played RTR or another mod (except mundus magnus) before.

But now the essential problem:
When i started the campaign, (i had to play fastly the prolog before), then going to make an own battle just to see if new skinns are available - nothing, but i got a graphic mistake

anyway i was able to notice that my unit skinns didnt change.

Well ok so i started the campaign, if RTR would work the campaign map would have to look in another way or? It didn't!

Now i got no idea what i have done wrong, please help me. I wrote everything down, what i have done.

Errr.. You mention you only download the RTR 6.0 Gold and music add-on but you didn't meantion installing the mod.. :hmmm:

Thanks for an answer, but that wasn't the problem! I know how to install files, special if it is made someone that easy, i only had to double klick and follow the instructions to install both files.. (RTR Gold + Music addon)

So maybe any other ideas? I really got no idea what to do..

Maybe i have to start Rome with another exe data?

I am not sure? Or should it run automatically?

edit: but please, be sure, i installed the downloaded files

Okay. If running the game gives you vanilla version of RTW then the obvious reason is you've install the mod in the wrong folder. Or maybe it's in the right folder (Activision/Rome - Total War) but the RTR data files not correctly overwriting RTW's data files.

Did the vanilla version ran fine ?

Vanilla=unmodded RTW out of the box version.

No Problems before uninstalling everything. After reinstalling i didn't checked it out, if everything is fine. Well i gonna look if the folders are placed wrong.

If not i gonna reinstall everything again

Try to install the mod in another folder then where your game is. Then copy the files inside that folder and paste them inside the game folder so that they overwrite the ones from RTW. If it does not ask you if you want to overwrite the files there then it means you pasted it in the wrong place again.
Oh, and I hope you have RTW v1.0(before installing the v1.2 patch). Because if you have the v1.5 released by Sega then you`ll have problems trying to install the RTR 6 Gold over it.

Two possible solutions for the graphic problem:

1. Delete preferences.txt (it may be a graphics options problem, so deleting this file will make it revert back to default settings).
2. Ensure you have the latest Windows Media Player.

I suspect that the first solution should fix the problem, since you mention BI works normally but RTR doesn't. RTR comes with its own preferences.txt file, which may be causing some incompatibilities.

If you want to, you can try RTRPE as well. It certainly has many improvements over Gold, and you can install the music mod over it as normal.
