Default The Third Age Crashes to Desktop. Help!

I installed the third age from the moddb site. I downloaded the parts 1 and 2 as well as the patches 3.1 and 3.2. When I click on the icon, it opens for a second to the third age intro loading screen. I can see the 3.2 at the bottom right corner. Then the program ends back to the desktop. I've uninstalled mtw 2 as well as kingoms multiple times. I have downloaded the 1.5 patch for kingdoms. I have uninstalled the third age and all the patches and reinstalled multiple times. I have disabled daylight savings mode. I'm lost. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

    I am running Windows 8.

    I have a radeon 7950 3GB video card

I have an intel core duo processor.

I have like 8 or 10 GB of ram.

Are you running M2TW on Steam?

I've asked this thread to be moved to the TATW forum btw, as that's where it belongs.

As lolIsuck said, can you confirm if you are using Steam or not? Also have you disabled UAC?

See this thread for help on installation and on UAC:

I am not running steam. I have a steam account but the version of M2TW and Kingdoms are both disc. I will look into the UAC stuff. I was not familiar with that. Thank you for taking time to answer my question!

I dsabled uac and reinstalled. It now says cannot find kingdoms exe. I renamed teutonic folder teutonic.2 and the third age teutonic. I clicked on the teutonic icon and it brought up the third age loading screen then crashed to desktop. Please help. This is driving me mad

If you are not running Steam you do not need to rename anything. Simply run the installers, and then click on the icon that should appear on your desktop. It should then work without any problem.

As StealthFox said, you used the wrong installation steps.. In my signature bellow, click on EK's Install Thread, and apply these steps explained there:

    1. Edit security, unhide hidden folders, check the VirtualStore!

    2. Uninstall TATW by using Start- Control Panel- Uninstall programs ( Do Windows 8 have Control Panel? ) and, manually delete TATW folder from your ../ M2TW/ mods folder.

    3. Follow the installation instructions for NON STEAM installation of TATW.

    4. For battle crashes, delete two descr_geography_new files ( .db and. txt) located in ../ M2TW/ mods/ Third_Age_3/ data folder.

    Good luck!

American, French, Israeli and British government's ILLEGAL aggression against the Syrian people, without any proof for chemical attacks in Douma, and without waiting for OPCW to conduct their investigation..

If you are a citizen of one of these countries, then DO NOT ask any help from me on these forums, since, in protest against this aggression by your governments, I do not provide assistance/help anymore.
Let Syria be finally in peace.
