So you take out the Kingdom of Portugal which historically had a great impact on the world and also still exists, and you put Navarre, which is an insignificant region? What kind of logic is that I ask?
The time frame of the mod is 1100-1204. It doesnt matter if portugal is still a country, they were not relevant at 1100. But you arent the first person to tell me it was stupid to put in navarre. I will fix first post later today
What will you replace Navarre with?

Why not Vladimir-Stuzdal?
You would hardly need to do much for a roster.
With the Bolgars it would really spice that side of the map up.
Mostly because 31 factions is the limit.
I meant in regards to it being a better option than Norway or not...
That would leave only 1 Scandinavian faction and 4 russian factions. Would leave denmark a very easy campaign, dont you think?
Kievian Rus - 1, Novgorod - 2, possible Vladimir-Suzdal - 3 and which state from your faction list would be in your opinion the fourth Rus one?
In my opinion Vladimir Suzdal would suit nicely here. It would be a political enemy for all states around - Novgorod, Kiev, Qumans and Volga Bulgaria. What I think as completely inapriopriate for the period 1100-1204 is Lithuania. I mean sure there were some Lithuanian tribes present around the Nemen river but in no way was there any Lithuanian state. If you want a Pagan state on the baltic coastline - pick Veleti confederation or duchy of Obodrites, though the latter were partialy baptised. The Obodrite-Veleti-Stetin area was target for famous (though defeated) Polabian Crusade of 1147y - this could be a nice event in your sub-mod.
Well, when you put it logically...
Hey man your faction choice looks fantastic, thanks for making this.
This looks like a great project. Noticed your post on the main page, had no idea this was going on. Thanks from me, too. Will look forward to august 1.
Finally a submod that focus on unit overhaul!
I suggest that you also include Mr Crows CSUR for Sicily and/or other factions.
Thanks guys.
We are planning on re doing all vanilla models at some point with much better models. CSUR is very restrictive on how you can use them, not a big fan of that.
Oh-oh-oh this looks perfect. I'd like to see some super aggressive-hard to beat rebels in certain locations to make it a challenge to conquer rebel provinces - so if there is no Norway faction, to have lots of large aggressive rebel stacks representing Norway and Sweden to make it tough for the Denmark player.
As for the first release we will have Norway in the game. We will also have rebels that are more aggressive.
- The Novgorod Rus*
- The Kievan Rus*
- The Volga Bulgaria*
- Vladimir-Stuzdal
I agree Lithuania was not a state at the time, but we need them in that location for faction balance. For the first release we will keep factions as they are now.
I don't understand, how could you classify Volga-Bulgaria as a Rus state? I mean this state was of different ethnicity (mostly Bulgars, but included many other steppic and finno-ugric elements), had nomadic roots (and therefore completely different culture) and was Muslims (mostly). How in God can you think about Volga-Bulgars as for a Rus state???
In my opinion and according to historical sense there is no need for Lithuania there. The Lithuania province should be rebelious with a solid garrison (similar to Prussian lands) and area of competition between Novgorod-Kiev-Poland and eventually Danes. Lithuania is highly ahistorical in your mod's timeframe context. I mean you could include a state called something like Tribal Confederation of Lithuanians (in no way a Duchy in that period) but in such case you would have to include other insignificant tribal confederations like Prussians, Jatviengas, Curonians etc. - impossible within your map's range and factions limit.
